Rare!!!!! The price is right, but I just bought one recently and don't need another.

I remember a friend with the BIG Zenith set that used one of these remotes. He HATED that set...because if he dressed for work watching the news in the morning, his BELT woulld change the channel while he was putting it on.

I remember that was this BIG mystery back then (I was like 10 or 11). I kept thinking it was the light from the buckle...and then came to the CORRECT conclusion after tearing the little remote apart and finding the little "tuning forks" inside. His belt buckle was making one of the "correct" frequencies when it was hanging down and rattling allover the place.

We used to then LOOK for things to "screw with the Zenith"...and we could never INTENTIONALY do this but with that ONE belt buckle. I do not at all remember anything about that Zenith...but that it was a BIG 'ol console. The sort of thing you would very rarely see in Hong Kong. The channel would change via a motor of some sort. You would press an up or down channel button...and sometimes it would be finicky and turn one more channel after letting up the button. Then you would hit the down button...and it would go TWO down. Was this BIG operation to get the thing where you WANTED it. The remote was actually MUCH more reliable than those stupid buttons. One "tink" from the remote...ONE channel

I do remember this not being white...and don't remember the ability to do the hue adjustments like this...but I was like ten.

Would these get LOST??...broken? How come this is gonna sell for what it would cost to buy TWO of these sets? I don't remember there being much to this. Some little round tuned chimes...and some little spring steel things that made the "click" (is this where "clicker" came from?) and some sort of hammer mechanism for each chime that the sudden flex of the spring steel made a hit to the chime. (I may be fuzzy about this...it was like 35 years ago I took the only one I saw to bits) I DID also manage to get the thing back together and NOT get yelled at for taking apart yet ANOTHER appliance. I was REALLY naughty and would take apart EVERYTHING if I was curious how it worked.

It's actually a WONDER I didn't KILL myself looking into TV sets and taking mom's sewing machine apart to play with the motor as a kid. I remember learning QUICKLY what TORQUE was when I TWISTED a mains cord to that sewing machine motor.....GOOD TIIIIMES !!!!

It's not that rare. Maybe he doesn't know most are interchangeable. Seen them on eBay before but never more that $50. Must be smokin' meth. Maybe it comes with 5 Zenith TV's.

I don't understand the two center buttons. Doesn't "VOLUME ON-OFF" mean the same thing as "SOUND MUTE"???

Re: volume on/off: some of those you hit the volume button to turn the set on, then had to click through all the volume settings from low to high to finally turn set off.

But the controller seems to have redundant controls: Volume UP, Volume ON/OFF, Sound Mute, Volume Down. I don't understand.

Button one=channel down
Button two=power, volume up (in steps, then turns set off-might have had a limiter adjustment on the set so it didn't go too loud)
Button three=mute, just like a modern set, just turns sound off
Button four=channel up

Neat feature: after you hit mute it activates secondary controls; with mute activated, hit button one and the tint control goes toward red, button four goes toward green.

Wow... he wants 500 for that? I got one with the 68 Zenith I just brought home, but it's in poor condition... one of the rods is missing, the screen in missing, the buttons are quite worn. Maybe I could sell mine for parts for 100 bucks!!! :banana: That would cover the price of the set! :D

Luckily, I have two SC600 remotes in nice condition already.
