We're all clearly delusional if we believe we can pick up girls by saying we restore vintage TVs - watch their eyes glaze over, bored to tears, as you relate to replacing capacitors, checking tubes, etc.:smoke:

My wife thinks my restoration hobby is hot...for some reason she always rolls her eyes right after saying that though :scratch2:.

I'm not so sure. You said in this forum, some time ago, if the flat screen went bad within a year or so (if memory serves me correctly, you were referring to your 32" set you got after buying a new car), you would replace it with an RCA CRT set -- an RCA ColorTrak 2000, again IIRC, because you were not that thrilled or impressed at the time with HD television. However, you will have to have a cable box, probably digital, on your ColorTrak set if and when it replaces the flat screen, so there will be no escaping DTV -- even if you use the box with a standard CRT set.

The Colortrak 2000 went on to a new home. The 32" HD in the living room is the one the wife watches, and moreso now that she just had shoulder surgery about 2 weeks ago. She'll be off work the rest of the year.

Among the shows she watches, are Breaking Amish, My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding, and Little House on the Prairie. Since I hate all the above shows :D, I go into my basement room, curl up on my beat up recliner with a blanket, and flick on whatever set is in current rotation. But then again, I don't watch much TV, so.....

But if it DID go, I wouldn't replace it with another HD set, simply because I'm next to broke. These medical co-pays have about killed me....

Otherwise, would I replace it with another flat panel? Probably. Try taking a microwave away from your spouse and tell her that now you have to heat up things on the stove and see how well that goes over ;)

Thank you very much for taking the time to post the picture. It isn't at all like the one that I had. I will take a picture of the one my parents had this week. It is one model younger than the one that I had but looks identical.

Does she have a sister? :D BTW, I here in Pittsburgh too, I just dabble a little in TV's when I need to, but I like to read as well as look here to absorb the knowledge in case when I dive into things. I'm into amateur radio too.
