Hi all,

I have a 1964 Magnavox roundie combo in the French Ivory finish, as seen in my avatar. Is there any way to get the yellowing :puke:out, so that it's white again?

I have a 1962 RCA roundie with the same issue and a bad cataract. Been that way since I got it in 1979. Possibly heat-related as mine was found in an alley garage.

You might check with a local furniture refinishing shop for some tips on restoring the finish. Must have had heavy smokers as previous owners.

I'm sure years of being smoked around didn't help it any. I'd like to try to get it looking as new as possible, without hurting the finish.

Start with Goop hand cleaner, without pumice, in the orange squeeze bottle. Won't hurt it and dissolves grease and grime. I find it at some auto parts stores and at Harbor Freight.

I've tried that, but it's not budging the yellowing. I'm thinking it's deep into the finish.

If you can find some old liquid Jubilee kitchen wax, that almost always removes the yellowing. Sadly the product was discontinued years ago.

More than likely it's the clear top finish that has yellowed over time, most old formula lacquer does that. Adds that beautiful aged patina. :)
