View Full Version : Well I went and did it again (pictures added)
Eric H 05-23-2012, 05:21 PM I bought another Console.
A 12" Philco this time, 49-**** I guess, haven't had time to look it up yet.
Radio/Phono/TV, large cabinet but not as large as some, TV is on the Right side, most are on the left.
I was hoping it has a good CRT but the cabinet is in such good condition I'd hate to part it out.
Update, it's a , original CRT and a service tag inside from the Rochester Gas & Electric Service Dept so I guess it was in N.Y. State at one time.
snelson903 05-23-2012, 06:35 PM look what i got today for 50.00 buck's , a guy answered my craigslist add and look what had. ill just squerill them away for now finish the one i started and just keep looking for more ,the more i can get the less chance of them becomeing a fishtanks or art projects . everyone should post a add on craigslist in your area ,wanted vintage tv's and show a few pic's of what you want because they dont know what a old tv looks like ,they think old is 80's 90's.since iv run my ad i have got atleast 2 a month.

12" haven't tested the tube yet.
I have a 49-1280 which is the biggest Philco combo I've seen yet.

Eric H 05-23-2012, 11:44 PM Hmmph, The CRT tests deader than dead.
bandersen 05-24-2012, 02:27 AM Ugh, I'm sorry to hear that. Good 12LP4s seem to be in demand lately.
Sandy G 05-24-2012, 06:39 AM The Moto kinda reminds me of the "Night of the Living Dead" set...
DavGoodlin 05-24-2012, 07:57 AM That Motorola looks similar to my 17T6, same knobs but with a wood cabinet. One of my first finds in 8th grade and I got it working with a few caps and a tube or 2. It should be a real easy one to restore. Beware of the metal ring around the screen, its where the 2nd anode connects.
Really like that Westinghouse!!!!
snelson903 05-24-2012, 08:43 AM i really like that westinghouse too,you know if been pretty blessed lately finding these some of these tv's ,as soon as i got home another lady sent me a email shes got a zenith port hole ,i hope to look at today .but what im really trying to find is some color tv roundie's they seem so close but yet to far, iv only scored the 68 magi ,im starting to get alot of b & w if there is anyone in my area that has any color roundies and wants to do any trading let me know i would like to balance my collection as i go . iv been watching that rca color one on ebay thats in louisville i really likey

I like that one too. Reminds me of some of the Panasonic offerings of the time.
ChrisW6ATV 05-24-2012, 01:59 PM Well I went and did it again

At least this time it wasn't an "accident", as with the Predicta! :)

You should really start your own thread to discuss your finds rather than stepping all over Erics.
snelson903 05-24-2012, 06:23 PM i dont remeber how to start a thread again, did once or twice before i got lucky before i guess, didnt mean to really step on his thread i was really showing him ,he said what he bought and i showed him mine , then it took off a life of its own sorry Eric.
snelson903 05-24-2012, 07:06 PM sorry about Eric h didnt really intend to jump on your thread ,i was putting my pictures in document files of my tv's , and first thing i went to this website and was going to upload my pictures on a thread after i figured out again , i always see what everone talking about first ,and you must have just posted what you just bought, so i thought i would show you what just got home with . dint set out to jump on your thread or get that much responce about the tv's either i really was showing you. it just took on a life of its own ,so sorry about that.
Eric H 05-25-2012, 12:13 AM sorry about Eric h didnt really intend to jump on your thread
That's alright, it turned out to be a dud anyway with a bad CRT. :sigh:
bandersen 05-25-2012, 12:51 AM i dont remeber how to start a thread again, did once or twice before i got lucky before i guess...
Go to one of the forums like 'Early B&W and Projection TV', and there will be a 'New Thread' button in the upper left. Click on that and fill out the form that appears to start a new thread.

snelson903 05-25-2012, 04:10 AM yeah iv had a few dudes myself lately ,i ran into a old man in my area named lewis he's in 90's, he had his own tv and appliance store since the 50's or early 60's just closed it a few yrs ago , he has tubes and test equit. ex ex and still stocks picture tubes, his daughter called me yesterday to see if i want buy his tube stock ,and wants me to start talking with him ,he's in a few stages of altimers i started emailing him ,he seems to be a nice guy he like's talking tv.
snelson903 05-25-2012, 06:18 AM thanks for the computer info ill get better with it,since now im useing it more, i found how to do it before after messing with for awile but never remembered how, it was under forums thats were i messing up.
Eric H 06-02-2012, 08:02 PM Here's a couple pictures.
The CRT seems to have gotten worse, I think it's gone to air.
The heater seemed dim to me when I first checked it, now it doesn't light at all.
I can't see the getter without pulling the tube and removing all the yoke stuff and that's nore work than it's worth.
This will probably have to go on the back porch with a blue tarp over it for now, even if I get a 12" tube I'd rather put it in something other than this.
