I just received a couple of remotes for rca tv's, from ebay. They are for the ctc74/81 DIRECT ADDRESS models, that Rca made, from
1976-1978. I am seking one of these tv's- They have NO power, volume, or channel controls on them, all of this was done by remote. now that I have the remotes, I would like one of the tv's.

They were made in console models-(the ctc81ad), and portable models-(the ctc74ad).I would rather have the portable, due to space reasons. If anyone has one, that they would be willing to part with, and is within a reasonable distance from me, let me know.

NOTE: I am NOT seeking an ordinary ctc-74 or 81. ONLY the direct address models, (these have no controls on the front,or behind a door, and are easy to recognize.

If you find one, be sure to tell us about it. I've had one of those remotes for years, but have yet to see a TV. I've always been curios to see one. Did it have on screen display?

Yes, it WAS on-screen. it had the channel ,and the time on screen. You could also change the color and tint, form the remote, and ONLY the remote.

I wouldn't think that set would have been very popular. What if you lost the remote? How would you operate any functions?

That must have been one of the first TVs with on screen display. I've never seen a delta gun TV with any kind of OSD.

The Heathkit GR-2000 and later series of sets had OSD of both channel and time.....remote control was optional. They also had pushbutton tuning and volume. Until Zenith bought them and substituted kit versions of regular Zenith sets they (original Heath sets) used RCA picture tubes.

Put *that* in your crack pipe and shoot it up!

I had a RCA CTC-92 with OSD (channel and time) from around 1979...it was a delta gun CRT (set had really bad crt so was salvaged for parts).
Also the Magnavox Star System had OSD...around 1975. I know their 19" sets were inlines at that time but the 25" consoles may have been delta.
