I learned that both of my surgeries earlier this year were on CCTV for med students due to both the lead surgeon and the rare/hazardous nature of the operations. So, some things haven't changed.

I wonder how they cleaned the cameras for a surgical suite? Or, were things less stringent back then?

Most likely, but it doesn't say.

I think video recording is probably common these days for legal reasons too.

Edit: this shot looks pretty posed to me due to the uniform lighting of the room - the surgical light isn't on.

One piece of trivia I've been told over the past few months is that the medical-equipment market is apparently one of the only drivers for ongoing CRT use/maintenance. This is because medical equipment needs to be certified by the FDA, and converting the equipment to LCD or other flatscreen monitors would require re-certification, an expensive proposition.

FYI - Ed Reitan had this shot in his presentation on experimental color receivers today at the Early Televison Convention. He said that the two similar racks on the right were triniscope monitors, and at the extreme right of the photo are windows overlooking the Wardman Park studio.

Can someone verify whether the camera on the left is not yet operational? It appears to have the Zoomar lens support but no lenses.

What I wouldn't give for a shiny TK-41 & Houston-Fearless dolly...(Sigh)
