Humm. Does the picture project onto the wall, ceiling, floor?.. With all the write up the seller doesn't say where in CA he is. CA is a big place.

I have this same unit, not near as nice but it was cheaper, didn't come with an 8-TS-30 though.

It projects on whatever you want it to I suppose, a proper screen would probably be preferred but a wall should work.

The 8-TS-30 may have a negative picture for a reason, the Duo-View requires a TV set with a certain polarity Video drive to function, someone may have reversed it to
work with it. Just a guess.

I've never attempted to power mine up since it requires a modified TV and some cables to go along with it.

Hi Eric, If I'm understanding so far, the set has been modified physically to work with the projector. I'll assume for the moment that the 8-TS-30 meets all the other requirements. Does that mean that it can't work without the projector? What are the chances that the projector can be restored? Are the parts out there to fix it? If the tv set has been midified and can't work without the projector wouldn't that devalue the otherwise valuable set? What do you think the overall value of the combined units is?

I have a Duo-View projector hooked up to a 8TS30, and both operate properly, and no alterations to the TV were required, other than hooking up wires to obtain video and sweep signals for the projector. The projector has video amplifier and vertical and horizontal and HV circuits to drive the Norelco portelgram projection unit. It has been a very long time since I put them together, so the details of the electrical interconnections are a bit fuzzy. The projector will make a 3'X4' picture in a dark room. A standard home movie/slide screen works well.

Yes, there is a chassis which contain video amp and deflection circuitry, and a regulated HV power supply along with the projection CRT (3NP4), yoke, and projection optics and housing. Schematics for the duo-vue electronics and optics are available. Don't recall if it was in Sams or Riders or elsewhere. The 3NP4 CRTs are quite rugged and reliable.

That would be an entertaining sight to see! If your gonna go to that extreme you might as well tarp it too.

I actually put stuff on the rear compartment - as long as it doesn't block the engine bay air outlets, then strap it down using ratcheting ties hooked in the wheel-well openings. Works well with console radios!

As noted the mods to the TV used aren't permanent, wires cut and spliced to go to the Projection unit.

I paid $50 for my Duo-View, it's in decent looking shape inside but the cabinet needs refinished and a new side cover made.
I have no idea what condition the tube or electronics are in, I assume the normal recap is in order.
It makes a nice roll around TV stand if nothing else.

I would think the 8-TS-30 is worth close to the opening price of this Auction.

Perhaps the negative picture is simply the contrast control turned too high? I believe the 8TS30 does not have AGC.

I've been drooling over that set all day, :dammit: but 2,845 miles (4578 km.) each way is a bit much to drive.

I do have a full-sized sedan as well. I'm more interested in the 8TS30, all you back east get one or two chances a week at one, ones out West are usually in Kaa-li-fornia; this is unusual seeing one in the Pacific Northwest! Actually, the Nor-el-co could be used to fix my 8PCS41 that my ex tossed its 5TP4 (and a 5AZP4 went as well). The burner-bib-shaped mirror that badly needs re-silvering and all the barrel apparatus could be shelved as well.

I couldn't find the Norelco "Floating Heads" commercial from 1961, but someone used a familiar TV in this later Nor-el-co mash-up:

It came home on a sunny Pacific NW day. RCA in the back seat, Norelco in the trunk, lid closed fine. Didn't see Santa on floating heads in the rear-view mirror once :dunno:
