Im sure this is possible for certain tv sets, but have no true idea. I realize at my stage in learning this is something i could never do, but i was wondering if anyone here has done it.

Just debating the idea of using a vintage crt with maybe a solid state tv chassis. Wondering how major the modifications would need to be.

I think the biggest challenges would be dealing with the yoke and flyback. Let's say you wanted to run a 10BP4 with an 80s 12" bw chassis. You would run into things that are way over my head, dealing with deflection angles for one. In the 50s there were companies who catered to folks wanting to install bigger, more modern crts in their early 10" sets and that would have involved various circuit mods. It would take an engineer to do it right, I guess. I can think of some members here that could do it, I bet. Note that most early solid state sets used the same crts as tube based, in the late 60s and early 70s.

If you could look the other-way on convergence it's an easy swap if the kine pinouts and deflection angle are the same.
