Hello all! I have a CR-70 and have read the manual a few times now and there are a couple parts that confuse me and was wondering if someone can help me with them?

1.) When using the universal adapter on a color CRT the clip has to be changed for each color gun. After having the clip on the pin# for red and testing do I then turn the function dial all the way back to "FIL SET" remove the clip from the red gun pin turn the gun select knob to green and connect the clip to the green gun pin and proceed to test and do the same for the blue? Wondering if this saves it in memory for the "color tracking" test.

2.) When using a numbered socket adapter for a color crt I connect the socket from the tester to the back of the crt. I have the gun select on red and all the numbers right. I proceed to test but when I am ready to move on to the next color do I turn the "Function" knob all the way back to fil set turn the knob to green on the gun select and change the "Individual Gun Setup" knob (K) (which would change for each color) to the correct number and proceed to test and move on to blue which is the last gun?

I hope someone can help me. These testers are very popular and have been out for quite some time now but I can't seem to find the info I need. I have looked everywhere and I want to make sure I am using this tester correctly so that I get the results desired.

As you can tell I am new here but looking to get into the hobby of restoring any crt's and I hope someone can help me.
Thanks!:thmbsp:

I've never tested a color CRT with my CR70, but I have scanned the operating instructions here: http://www.bobandersen.com/manuals/sencore/cr70/

The color tracking is described here: http://www.bobandersen.com/manuals/sencore/cr70/cr70-02.JPG

Looks like you just test each gun individually and make note of the emission for each one.

Thank you very much! Love your tubetube chan. The part that confuses me is in picture "cr70-02.JPG" Simplified Test instructions. It says reset Individual gun setup switches for each gun of a color CRT after performing Shorts, Cutoff, and emission tests. I'm not sure what it means by "reset Individual gun setup switches for each gun of a color CRT". Do I put all of the switches back to 1? In my manual it also says the same but on another page it says something along the lines of making sure before changes are made to not have it on the emission test when making a change or else it will only replace the last emission test thus not getting the right readings and the tracking test will be inaccurate. So where do you turn it to after doing an emission test of the red gun before I make the changes on "K" and the color gun knob? I have looked everywhere for months on someone using this tester on a color CRT but no one seems to be sure if they are doing it right either. Even with the universal adapter on color crt's. Only video I have found is yours and you are using it on a B&W tube which you don't have to change the guns. Of course you just have to keep it on red/B&W. As you can see they are lacking details when it comes to color CRT testing and which knobs to turn where before doing what.

I understand part 2 of that section which is saying to test every color gun before using the tracking test to compare all 2 guns. If you have a color CRT around give it a try and you will see what I mean when I say it's confusing.

Thanks so much for the reply!

I have uploaded the pictures of the manual in question.
