Found this on Craigslist, I could tell it was pretty beat but for $45 if the CRT was good it would be a good deal, it was 35 miles away.

The seller let me test the CRT, it was outside and it had been down to the 40's last night, it probably was in the 50's when I got there and it was starting to sprinkle.

I almost passed on it, the CRT barely budged the needle on first power up, even at 8 volts it was crawling very slowly up the scale.

I let it climb into the good range, at first it would drop like a rock when I switched back to 6.3 volts so I cooked it another 30 seconds, that did the trick, suddenly it went right up to good, the cutoff started working and most importantly it held at 6.3 volts!
It was just cold and had been dormant for decades.

I got it home and removed the CRT and checked it again, now it jumps immediately to the high end of good as soon as you switch to the Emissions scale! A great tube.

Not only is it good but it's Aluminized, Tinted and was rebuilt by Cal-Video at some point in the past.

My only disappointment is I had thought it was a 10" tube (http://www.tvhistory.tv/1949-Philco-49-1077-10in.JPG) and was going to use it in my 630TS but it's a 12LP4 not a 10BP4, oh well, I have some 12" sets in need of a tube too.
I also have spare parts for my other Philcos.

The cabinet is a B.I.U.F.F. that means: "Bust It Up For Firewood" it's literally falling apart. :D

Oh I am, any CRT I get I'm thankful for, it's just I had a particular use in mind for this one. :yes:

I have one of those Cathedral shaped Philcos (50-1403?) that needs a tube, this would be perfect for it.

I may have a 10bp4a lying around as a spare i might not need... :D

Parts set for sure, the cabinet has already been busted up but I saved all the innards and most of the hardware.

Like other Philco cabinets this one had a serial? number stamped on the various parts, this one had #400 stamped underneath the door handles on each of the doors.
I don't know if that was a serial number or maybe a cabinet style?

I saved the wood face for the Radio, it just happened to separate cleanly from the cabinet when I was breaking it up so I figured someone might want to make a Radio using the chassis from the set, assuming it's a stand alone radio, I didn't really look at it all that closely.

That's one of Philco's smartest-looking radio dials IMHO, a friend busted up a radio-phono console with that same dial and put it in a small wooden tabletop cabinet. BTW, what's the radio chassis # ?

Unless those are Selenium Rectifiers in that cage n the back this may require B+ from the TV to operate.
The big tube is a 50L6 output.

I think it's the same radio as the one in my 49-1280 set.
Fairly certain it's a standalone, the plugs on the back are for the antenna and the 110v power, and also to the Turntable.
