Sure is a Portacolor! First one I remember seeing in orange. This one should get a lot of bidding.

That's the first Portacolor I've seen that wasn't simulated woodgrain, and it's Tennessee orange! Looks like a clicky type UHF tuner and the knob styles appear to be late '70s to me.

From the picture with it on, it looks like it needs some convergence work or maybe it just needs the tint control adjusted. Cool looking little TV.

That's the first orange one I've seen. I used to own a couple of the woodgrain versions of that set and they were made in late '76.

Are we convinced that the orange is a factory job?

The small knobs are the same style used on the 79 GE I had.
Pretty sure the Orange is factory, that was a popular color in the mid 70's.

Not misconverged, just a lot of chroma smear - fine tuning might improve it (or make it worse)

I pretty sure this is an OEM paint job. I saw several like this in the early 1980's. Weren't these the ones with all the bad chassis soldering? The stakes?

Hey! Don't knock the fine set I bought from you. Anyone that buys a Porta-color shouldn't expect much.

I think it's all factory, and it's also the very last tube version. It doesn't say "Porta Color", and it has the same knobs as the solid state ones. I have heard a rumor that there was a solid state chassis put in that style case, but never seen one. I think it's 1978-80.

Yes, I'm sure it uses the 10HE chassis. I have a '73 model that uses the 10HE chassis; but, it has the older style control layout.

You should also be able to point the two rods in opposite horizontal directions on this set. This may be the first portable TV I have ever seen that could be able to receive channel 2 (if there was still one on the air) clearly and free of ghosts.

T'aint orange - the "RD" in the model number corresponds with "poppy red" in the HE Chassis/Model index. Both the cabinet and escutcheon are parts coded as poppy red. Portsmouth made set, '73, or 74, although the serial says 1975....

This is a 1976 model. The first set introduced in 1966 had a very course pixel pitch. Looked lousy, I wanted to buy one but couldn't justify it. Bought a 1968 Sony Trinitron KV 7010UA instead.

Later versions of the Porta color, improved the shadow mask.
