Back in September, my wife and I took a trip to NYC. The Lacoste store in Manhattan has a store front display where they were using old TV's as an ad for their store.

I figured a lot of folks here would enjoy this.

Hey is that a Sylvania Halo-lite? Nice set. As is the JVC video-sphere. The rest are pretty average (oh wait, one of those Panasonic micro-tv's on the top is kinda rare)

The center one next to the halo-lite looks like a zenith avante or one of it's wana-be's.

The Panasonic Orbitel is not super-rare, but people like the space-age look, just as with the JVC VideoSphere.

I don't see the "Micro" Panasonic...Maybe just me. Judging by the number of 'em on Evilbay, they musta sold 3 shit-potful loads of 'em during the Eighties...I'll get one for little or nuthin', some kid'll come by here, see it, & go Ga-Ga over it..I musta give half-a-dozen away that way...Now the FIRST one, from 1969-71 or thereabouts, IS very rare...I have one of them, & it AIN'T goin' nowhere...

Sandy G, I'm probably mistaken about the name. I thought that t.v. in the top right was called a 'micro' tv but now that I think about it, that's more of a generic name for em I suppose .

No Problemo ! Panasonic weren't the ONLY bunch to make 'Em...i have one that has an AM/FM radio, too-Sort of a "Knock -Off" of the Panasonic...Decent enuff FM radio, sucky AM...

The halo-lite also looks ill-like a bit of vertical collapse? Maybe it will let some magic smoke out before this display is taken down...

Yeah I can imagine how hot the lytics are getting, and the stress implied in the circuits from the caps being way high ESR. That poor flyback.Looks as if the halo-lite lacks H.witdh as well.

I spotted an Emerson 648 in a window display at a stereo shop a few years ago. After a little negotiating with the shop owner, I brought it home :)

There's also an early 50s set in the middle of a local cafe and a late 40s RCA in a local antique shop window display.

There is a store in our county that was once a full-line GE dealer but now they just carry a small selection of major appliances. They have a nice window display that includes, as I recall, a monitor-top refrigerator, and wringer washer and a 10" GE TV. I inquired about the set but they said it was on loan from someone. They also have a nice 60s vintage outdoor sign advertising GE Color Television. Another local shop had vintage appliances scattered throughout the showroom. When the owner retired there was a 12" RCA console that showed up in one corner of the sales floor. I guess when he stopped selling TV sets in the mid-90s he put it into storage. That one I did get to buy!

Thought you guys would enjoy this. I took the picture today. This is a real functioning modern TV repair shop in a little town about 12 miles from me. The owner tells me the blond RCA in the window has been a real attention getter for his modern TV repair. Anyone recognize what model RCA that is? It’s terribly sun beaten to the point the finish is powdering off. This guy loves fixing tv's, but says he has no time to work on the vintage stuff. They threw out all the old test gear and parts years ago.

"Micro" and "Mini" are indeed generic terms, not standardized by the TV industry.

I think Sandy is thinking of the Panasonic "Travelvision" lineup as "micro" tvs as they have CRTs measuring 1-1/2 inches or less measured diagonally. There aren't any of them visible in this image.

The TV at the top right is a Sharp "robot" (3S111R).
