Had lots more TVs (almost all of them in my basement) when I lived at the western end of Lake County, Ohio (Cleveland area), but I had to give most of them up :no: when I moved in 1972. Had to get rid of the rest of them in 1999 when I moved (again) to a small apartment. The only sets I could possibly have in this place are small portables, such as the Zenith J121Y 12" solid state set I brought with me (along with the two 19" color table sets mentioned above) when I came here.

17? 28? 60? Reading that, it seems to me a little crazy that anyone would have that many sets. So now I'm getting worried: I've always told people that I have around 200 sets. But I actually lost count a long time ago. It might be a few less than that, but it could easily be more. That includes big ones (TRK 120, DuMont RA113, a few CTC roundies, etc.) plus a passle of medium sized ones (630s and 630 wannabees, too many 721s) a gaggle of smaller ones (all those cute little 7" electrostatics), and a whole bunch of teeny tiny ones (Sony 5-303s, Watchman sets and Panasonic 1".) I even scrapped three sets this year that I finally gave up on as past-all-hope-of-ever-being-restorable. That's the first time I ever did that. But then I probably added at least three more to replace them. Hmmm... It may be time for an inventory. Or perhaps an intervention. :)

Well , , I guess im the forum's minimalist , , , , Ive got one , , yeppers , , just one , antique TV ...... Its a 1950s olympic that lives in the model airplane room , and before the end of broadcast TV it used to be a daily runner for something to listen to while I worked on my RC planes ......

Now , antique radios are another story all together ...... they occupy just about my entire house !!!! :D

Yea , its funny how many of us Massachusetts guys are into the same hobbys . For me , Its been everything from Lionel trains , RC planes , Antique cars , and just about anything built with Vaccum tube technology ... My age no longer allows the restoration of old cars anymore , and thats one reason I really like the RC planes and smallish tube radios , theyre much easier for this old retiree to keep running ..

I'll leave you with a horrible photo of the only Straight 8 I've ever owned . It was a 53 Buick special with only 45000 miles on it when I owned it (almost 30 years ago) ..... It was the proverbial "little old lady's car that only went to church on sundays" , and was in way better shape than the photo portrays (that rust on the front bumper was the ONLY rust anywhere on the car !!! )

I haven't counted in decades, but probably a total of 200 or so. This includes my collection of pocket TVs (a few dozen), and my collection of small CRT Sony color sets (about 40), which all together take up the space of one console. My high number was over 400 sets, and that was in 1989. It was out-of-control, and I wound up paying more for rented storage than the collection would ever be worth, so I sold off most of it. I kept a few sets with personal value to me, and since then, my "generation II" collection has built up to about as big as I want to allow it. I have to explain to my wife, how there is an apartment in a complex we have, which stands incompleted and without income, is full of old TVs. And there are numerous large TVs in every room of the house. And a motorcycle in the livingroom.

Got a vintage tube radio. (and see the odd one pop up on listings services) but no old TVs... yet I really want to own/restore one - even a small portable, as long as it's all-tube.
Problem for me is location, more or less - none pop up, and shipping would be very cost prohibitive.

32" Sony Trinitron works great with the back off, no picture and constant flashing LED with the back on, probably a broken trace near the FBT
35" RCA, early-90s, needs power supply repair kit to be put in (I have the kit, just have never gotten around to it)
50" Sony plasma monitor - suspect Y sus and buffer boards
Philips Magnavox (really Funai) 9" TVCR, was working recently but just took a fall and not worth fixing if it broke. Even if it still works I don't need it anymore.
20" Coby with DVD player, lots of filter caps are bulging, did not even bother plugging it in after picking it up off the curb.
2 13" Samsungs (early 90s) - nothing wrong with them but do not need
13" Zenith (early 90s) - ditto

So that's about 33 TVs/monitors. I definitely used to have a lot more.

ETA: The ad link that came up for my Mega Watchman actually pictures the one I have - an FD-555! Mine does not have the original stickers like the linked one (which is for sale on amaz0n).

Although I'm sure I'll collect a few more in the coming years, I think I've generally got more than enough. Lately I've discovered that I enjoy restoring sets for other people perhaps more than collecting more of them myself. All the fun without consuming more space when the restoration is complete! I've done about 30 sets for others in the last few years. Would hate to find room for those in my house!

Right now quite a few of mine are at SFO airport as part of their antique TV exhibit. I'm enjoying their absence from my house as much as the airport visitors are enjoying looking at them to burn up some time while waiting for their flights... Lots of room in the house at the moment, and it's kind of nice!

I counted 24, and that includes the non-working DuMont RA-113, and a little MCS 5" B/W set that I got from SandyG.

The oldest B/W is the DuMont. Capacitor replacement is underway.
The oldest color is my RCA CTC-10C, and it works. (since 1975)

Well, Sandy, I swapped the tuner from my working MCS set to the one you had, and nothing. The tuner from yours is good, or better, than the one I have. I'll swap the CRT itself and then will have a good working set... to never use in my stereo system!! :banana:

I'd have to say about 8 to 9 sets not including the parts and junkers. Space does limit what I have and maybe that's a good thing. Of these, they are either working unrestored/restoring-not finished/need to restore!

Like my Predicta, even though it's operating I'm not sure when it will ever be complete to my satisfaction and lately I've been having fun with my Zenith Z3000.

I think I have about 350-400 TV's. I am working to get all of the TV's out of a barn and storage unit into a downtown office building, however it only has stairs (no elevator). I probably have about 50 of the TV's moved in but when I get my stair-climbing motorized dolly I can get most of the rest of them moved in.
I physically cannot take anymore hand lifting of TV's or other heavy equipment up the stairs even with an assistant and a hand truck.

I do have a trailer with ramp now which is so much better for transport than a pickup truck or van as no lifting is needed to get the sets on the vehicle.

I really have not been buying any more recently although I saw a rare sight at the Goodwill today, a Magnavox tube type color combo set with good 23" CRT. My back is aching at just the thought of hauling it though so I don't think I will get it.

A lot of of them were given to me at recycling events and I had to just empty the truck as fast as I could to get them all home so some have never even been tested yet for years. Now that I have the place downtown I have a real workshop and real place to set up the TV's and use them.

There are at least 45 scattered about on the main floor of my house. The new daily watcher is the 84 Sylvania console, it came for free with remote and seems low hours. The picture is great, and the cabinet style matches the living room. If I could get my floor model TV's up to the attic I wouldn't have six more of those in the garage, not to mention the 7 already in the house. The attic holds all my spare portables, some 20 to 40 I'd say. All together about 90 I guess, most people call it junk. Haha.

Yes, you're right, but this set probably need a simple recapping. Mivar and other italian brands uses the electrolytical capacitor made by FACON, one of the worst capacitor brands ever :sigh:

Freebies to everyone here on VK :D Sounds like a hoarder if I ever heard of one...

My number would be much higher if I hadn't moved so much. I just counted up every tv I ever had: 78 B&W, 39 Color = 117 total, only 28 of which I have now.

Today I have 40 including the 12 or so "new" TVs.

The photo shows a collection of 80 amassed in just 7 years. I had to move to Dallas for a "real job" in 1983, and my parents thought I was gone for good and forgot this rescue operation:tears:. I miss the RCA 21" color sets CTC5, CTC7, CTC9, CTC16E and CTC16XL.

Some of which were saved I still have:D:. Notable is an RCA CTC-12A "Burgoyne" (white french provincial model), which is next for a restore after the Admiral 17DX12.

If you can get dry storage with rodent control, any collection can be saved. Fortunately I have a detached garage and heated workshop, so my collection is rarely the subject of "downsizing" etc.

I'm not sure I could say why! It is not an un-achievable feat to get them all set up and working. Already I have much greater building facilities than years ago and I will continue to try and expand the areas available to set up the TV's. I literally work on my equipment 7 days a week and have a completely equipped workshop for repair, which you can see on my Youtube channel.

I have focused more recently on computer, typewriter, car, and radio repair but have also this year got several of the TV's completely restored.

There were several opportunities I had to get as many old TV's as I could physically haul and so I did since I had space to store them. They would have gone to the dump otherwise. Since then I really have quit getting any more except for a few given to me and have not been seeking them
out to buy. Even when I was going to estate sales and things there were few still around in recent years.
