Well, while I'm waiting on a shipment of parts to finnish my RCA 6T74, resistors, and, Admiral 16" rect. bakelite table model, forgot model, I am nearly ready to start on a new project after finnishing my Fairbanks Morse radio.
Here's where it gets sticky. What first? I'm still limited on parts, mind you.
Admiral 20X22? console. While it is still missing some key parts, I have enough to start rebuild. I have a full set of knobs, a barely usable pm spkr., and, chassis bolts.
Chassis isn't un molested, but, dammage isn't real bad.
Motorola 7" port. Not complete. Missing back, and, antenna.
Cab. o.k., but, not great.
GE Locomotive. Complete. Good tube. Not real anxious on this one.
Dumont RA-103C Still needs cabinet work. John Folsom said he had tried it. Tv was dead, but, had B+. Ca[s had been replaced long ago with other paper caps., likely shot.
AM radio played.
I bought this from John nearly two years ago. I have to re finnish part of the case, and, do a veneer patch on top.
Entire set is there.
RCA 8" portable. I have two of these. One has a major problem with something arcing after rebuilding. I think it's the yoke.
Other I haven't touched. Missing original stand, but, I have a black one I can use.
Spartan 17" rect. table model.
I have had this set for 24 years. It had been in a house fire, and, side of case was badly scorched. Since this was long before I was able to find more tv's, I decided to rebuild it. I replaced trashed pix tube, and, re built chassis. Believe it, or, not, it played, but, contrast was lousy.
Before I got any further, life caught up with me. It's finally in lr waiting for a decision. Some minor dammage has happenened, and, lost a knob out of cabinet. Darn!
Was able to replace melted down channel selector knob, but, cant find vol., on-off knob. Lost cage, but, re located it in shop.
Do I finnish, or, give up on this set? I would have to do other cosmetic repairs as well, but, not un doable...
I was amazed that I actually got it playing back then. The set had been somewhat involved in that house fire. It wasn't the cause, but, you can see from cabinet dammage that it was starting to burn up.
There are other sets as well.
What should I do?
