does anyone know about this tv the model # or have one

I know DuMont was in name only by then, but I'd love to hear more about them too. I saw a brand new '80s model color console with knobs on it when I was tv shopping. BTW, I ended up with a beautiful 13" Zenith System 3 that was priced comparable to many consoles of the day. Cost too much to toss it when the picture started dying, so I bought a clone for $15 when one showed up. Color like new.

The only '80's Dumont's I've seen were 13" and 19" sets and they were built by AOC (Admiral Overseas Corp). They were not the best quality.

I don't know about this console; but, the control panel looks like some of the Sanyo built Sears consoles. It could also be a rebadged Wells-Gardner set from the early '80's.

By the '80's, Dumont was just a name that was held by a sales company and, like others, they had their TV's produced by a number of companies. Emerson, for example, was also just a name by the '80's and most of their TV's were made by either Orion or GoldStar.

I worked for a rent-to-own company. We had DuMont console color tv's that had Sylvania chassis in them. This was around 1985.

We also rented DuMont VHS vcr's too. We had a silver machine that was linear mono sound, and a black machine that was linear stereo with Dolby. Both were built by NEC, and had issues with the rew/ff clutch and belts. I know that somewhere here, I have a NOS clutch for one of these machines. At the time, I bought them by the box.

Hard to tell from that photo, but that does look something like a mid-80s NAP (Sylvania/Philco/Magnavox) set. In a thrift store in the 90s I spotted a knob tuned 25" table model DuMont which had the "look" of being from about 1980 or so.

looking at other tvs online it looks like a few curtis mathes & sylvania tv's i have seen on ebay. & i found an nec remote on ebay that looks similar to the one we had with it
i still have not been able to find this tv anywhere online. so i guess it must be pretty rare

i think it's from 84 or 85 & i know it was cable ready.

I worked on a couple. NOT high quality. Like said before--they were "AOC" type chassis. Hot, low- quality. BUT, like the AOC sets--kind of easy to repair. One I know I had and sold was a 25" console, particle board cabinet. It has been I think 25 years or so, but IIRC it only needed some caps in the vertical ckt and soldering. The set was not at all old when I "picked it". Once fixed--it did produce a pretty good picture.

my mother in law had one of those.pretty good picture and it lasted over 10 years.had a nap crt and it looked like admiral chassis.it was a good set.not high quality but this particular one was very good.did the dumont name well

TV cost $550 in 1984

i know that some of the models begin with DLC or DL

and it seems like they had a few different models in the 80's but none can be found now
