This is too funny. :D
I have seen a few of these with an LCD placed inside and they work awesome and you still get the retro look. I've also seen an insane fish tank made from one. I am not that ambitious!

I agree, but you have to remember that most people outside our hobby don't care about the value of these old sets. When the set goes bad, out to the trash it goes (with nary a thought given to restoring the electronics), or, if the owner decides to keep the set, he or she will gut it, throw out the chassis, and....(gasp!)....install a modern LCD, plasma or LED flat panel set in its place in the cabinet. Sad, but as CBS' Walter Cronkite always ended the CBS Evening News, that's the way it is.

I agree 100%. We will just save what we can and hope someone years from now will continue to save what we all collected after we're gone.

Wow, that really is a great looking set. I hope it gets saved and treated right. I'd love to see something like that show up on my Craigslist.

I'm afraid the asking price will keep any sane person from rescuing it.

This ad is so close to being the same cabinet as the CL TV, except for speaker grill. :scratch2:

Oh, about 35 years ago I considered gutting this radio and installing a 8 track tape transport in it. Thank God that I was too lazy to actually do it... The tapes would have stuck out where the dial is.
