Against my better judgement, I am repairing a Sony KDL-52S5100 LCD set. Power supply fuse blows instantly, but there doesn't appear to be anything wrong with the main power supply board. This supposedly happened after a monentary power outage. Anyone have any experience with this or similar?

If the fuse blows as soon as you plug it it then you definitely have a short in the PS. you cant always tell by looking at it. Look for a shorted bridge rectifier, transistors, fet's caps, diodes etc. It maybe easier to just get another PS. If you can send me a part number, I'll see if I can dig one up.

This TV has a main P.S. board, and two "high voltage" boards that apparently light the LCD display. Using the ol' trusty dim bulb, I isolated the trouble to one of the HV supplies. Seems that the 10N60E transistors (?) are bad. The P.S. board # is 1-878-624-11.

The 10N60's are common and can be bought from various places online. What is the part number of the inverter(HV) board that is bad? Also if you unplug that board and try to power it up you should get codes in the form of a flashing LED. At least you will know if the PS is somewhat working.

The actual module # is A1663196A. Ant it seems to be commonly avaliable at prices ranging from $18-$60. Seems like a much easier way out.

And, finding the 10N60E is hard.lenty of 10N60C's, but the characteristics seem a bit too different.

OK, module replaced. Both MOSFET's bad in the other one. Now, the set turns on (the relay clicks) and the power LED lights up for about 20 seconds. There is no display or audio. Then, another click and the standby led gives a repeating six-blink code. Sony won't tell me what the code means. Anyone have any ideas??
