Is anything by Andea pretty rare, or only certain sets?

By any stretch, is this worth the asking price? Cabinet looks good but....I know nothing of Andrea. Anyone? it's a short drive from me.

Snag it. That one is rare. If the 12LP4 is good, that's a bonus. I've seen rough ones go for lotsa cash.

if you had a crt tester and could check it , if it has low emissions then you could get the price down on it

Good advice. Lately, I've been taking a tester along on all my expeditions. I've always been able to knock the price down quite a bit when the CRTs are weak.

One seller even went so far as to just give me the set when the CRT tested poorly :)

I've a nonworking EICO from wayy back that needs a general restore.... but I do have B/K dynaquik which has a decent pinout list...

That being said, this one isn't for me. I likely won't pursue it, but who knows maybe the next one will work out better.

I just picked this up this weekend. John Marinello scored this for me out of Philly. Cabinet needs refinishing, back is missing and the crt is dead. Otherwise it is in very restorable condition. Paid $100 + some minor transport fees.

I just did a dimensional comparison between the 12QP4 (original crt) and the 12LP4. The 12QP4 is 1 1/4" shorter than the 12LP4. The only difference is that the neck is longer on the 12LP4. Otherwise the bulbs are identicle except for the fact that the anode connection is different. I am not sure a 12LP4 will fit in the cabinet without sticking out the rear. From what I can tell the back of the set is flat without a bump out for the crt neck and I am pretty sure the socket is very close to the inside of the back. I will have to check mine tomorrow.

The price seems kinda steep to me, these show up on CL every couple of months, I have the console version I got last fall on NY city for $100 complete with a picture tube that test like new. Haven't restored the electronics yet.

I'm in love...

I still really like any TV that has Channel 1. Sets like these with continuous tuning are cool in any case as well.

These Andreas are interesting because they have channel 1 and also the "double-D" CRT mask, which I thought didn't appear until later (maybe the Pilot TV-37 was the first?).

the earlier version of this set had a square image for the picture , later they rounded the sides or double D , the table model i'm refering to
