I'd grab that in a heartbeat if it were near me, though I'm running out of corners to put it in.
Someone had one on eBay for an outrageous price a while back ,thought it was a bit nicer than this one.

By the way, just to clarify the policy on posting links to sets for sale.
It's fine to post Craigslist, eBay, Goodwill, whatever links as long as it's not your own personal item that's for sale, those have to go in the classifieds, and really the Classifieds should be for items that are for sale here with a set price, we're pretty flexible on that so far though.

Why isn't it OK to post your own items? basically because it's just kind of rude to do so, also it would soon get filled up in here with one post wonders shilling their own Auctions.

I've been looking at this unit for a while now and have not been able to find out anything about it.
I don't know that I've ever seen a Magnavox TV from the 1940's (if it really is from 1947 ?).
I don't see any information about it on the Internet.
What's it's story?

I recently restored a combo Magnavox similar in some respects to this. I documented it here before returning it to its owner: http://www.radiomuseum.org/r/magnavox_264k_cr223eradi_ct246bt.html

CRT mask looks very similar. Control panel similar, but not 100% the same.

If you try to look up this model anywhere, you will not find it. I got the impression that it was some kind of custom order. Perhaps they had a bunch of different cabinet styles that a dealer could install this TV in.

One thing about the model I restored is that the chassis could not be removed from the cabinet without removing the CRT from the chassis first. Quite annoying!

The cabinet looks like it has the round 16" Magnavision set installed, I believe this was used from the 1950 model year until the rectangular CRT's were installed around '53/'54.

Magnavox used 10" & 12" CRT's in their 1948/1949 sets. It is an interesting looking set, and it is only a few miles from me but I already have 2 Imperial Windsors. Not sure if I really want to find a place to stuff another big console.

This set is from 1949/50, the same as the one Tom restored. I have one similar to Tom's description, but mine has a multiband radio with preset tuning buttons. Mine also has the CT-246 TV chassis, but my CRT is mounted entirely on the chassis. I saw one like mine but with the earlier-style CRT bezel (rounded-corner rectangle rather than double-D) for sale nearby in an ad about a year ago.

It is a TV only, no separate amp, looks like a 12" speaker. All the cables are cut off, yoke, CRT, power supply, and speaker.

Just a "square box" TV in a fancy cabinet.
