I don't know about you guys, but my DVR outputs in standard 480i to coax regardless if it's receiving an HD signal or not. That's what I run to my old sets, but I could see how something like the above converter would be useful.

I've been using a similar box for about two years for time shifting to DVD RAM and have had no problems. The image quality is better than analog NTSC. I use the S-Video output to feed a Panasonic DVR. I paid about fifty bucks for mine.

Only annoyance is that if on wide screen show, you forget to tell the box that your screen is 9x5 you get letter boxing and on a 1.34 show, if you forget to tell the box your TV is 4x3, you get pillar boxing.

They are a lot less expensive on ebay. One of many there is 290577057221 .

HDMI equipment can still output to old style analog, they just have to make sure its at the lower resolution. I think you can't or won't find this much because very few are looking for it. Itsa Why buy race fuel for yer lawn mower? kinda thing.

20 years ago, I bought a new two-cycle manual push lawn mower (chosen because a friend got very good performance from an old two-stroke he owned).

Mine did not perform nearly as well - the motor did not have a speed setting, and, when the motor approached its peak speed, the engine would start misfiring, causing the motor to belch unspent fuel, slow down, then speed up to the point where it would misfire again, and...(repeat).

A repairman could not fix it, so I tried a desperate measure - I tried mixing half regular gasoline and half racing gasoline with the two cycle oil, and it ran well. I continued to use it with half racing fuel for the next 12 years at which point I had moved to a residence with no use for a mower.
