I'd think it's more so you can have the channel changer/tuning chassis next to the couch and the screen across the room... earliest remote control :D vts1134 06-23-2011, 08:58 PM I'd think it's more so you can have the channel changer/tuning chassis next to the couch and the screen across the room... earliest remote control :D You know I never thought of that!:scratch2: Electronic M 06-23-2011, 10:01 PM Just for the record there actually were eairlier "remotes" than that. That Philco predicta Tandem(not penthouse) is form arround 1960. Zenith had the first wireless TV remote (the flashmatic) in 1954, and they had wired remotes (such as the "lazy bones") years earlier. There were also radio consoles with wired, and wireless remotes in the 30's and 40's (for example the Philco "mystery control" models). Tom C. old_coot88 06-23-2011, 10:24 PM Dang, ya beat me to it, Tom. Here's an example of a Flashmatic.. http://www.vintagetvsets.com/fm1.htm And an ad for it.. http://www.vintagetvsets.com/flash.htm oc ChrisW6ATV 06-24-2011, 12:55 AM Message sent. Stop me before I buy. No, I will be a bad influence. I hope you do buy it! :) If I was anywhere near there, I would be super-tempted as well (if I had the money); the price is very reasonable for that model. magnasonic66 06-24-2011, 05:56 AM I'll bet whoever bought that was the talk of the town in Lancaster, PA! A real beatnik type! Dave A 06-26-2011, 06:55 PM No joy. Seller stopped returning emails. Be on the lookout at a higher price. Eric H 06-26-2011, 07:20 PM Wow, great deal on that Tandem. Glad it's too far away from me. |
