The second I bought because I wanted an example of paddle CRT set, and I feel that even with a missing knob, and with a ruined antenna it is worth the 2$ I paid.

And lastly this cute widdle 1985 monochrome Zenith(were it not a zenith I would not have given it a second look) that I rescued from the curb. It is clean, and works great(unlike the set it was sitting on when it was found, which I left(you'll see why)).

In the past I would scrap this, but I left it, and snaped a couple of pictures to visualy warn about the danger of leaving the brightness turned up when the vertical fails(somehow I think the owner must have been asleap or elsewhere at the time it failed).

The 60s Sony is definitely a keeper. I can also see holding onto the Watchman as kind of a grandchild to the other Sony. The rest...ehh. I would keep space open for nicer things.

For safety reasons, I would NEVER click on a link like that, don't know what might happen..

I have a few 5" B&W TV/radio portables, including two older Sony's (one from the mid '60's and the other from the early '80's). I also have a mid '80's Emerson TV/radio/cassette portable. And, I have a few 9"/12" B&W portables. After the DTV switch, these sets started coming out of the woodwork.

I had a Zenith J121Y 12" solid-state b&w portable I bought new in 1978. Kept it the next 22 years. The set worked perfectly all that time (only thing wrong with it was a broken detent mechanism on the UHF tuner). I would still have it today if not for a lack of space in my small apartment; I have two color sets here and several vintage radios as it is, with little room left for even a small portable TV. Oh well. That Zenith wouldn't have been worth much to me anyway after June 12, 2009, and it wasn't doing me a whole lot of good before the DTV transition either. I live in a semi-fringe area for Cleveland TV, and this set would only get channels 5 and 8 on its built-in monopole VHF antenna. Channel 3 doesn't reach here at all (at least it didn't in the pre-DTV days) on any of my sets. Somehow I just couldn't see using my Zenith 12-inch SS portable with a converter box, though I could have connected the cable directly to the VHF antenna input through a matching transformer, using the VHF channel selector for tuning. The set would have received most of the broadcast channels, except a couple of out-of-town ones I don't watch anyway.

I have the top 3, love the small 60s crt Sornys.
The sanyo would get parted and trashed.

I sadly tossed a 60s Sony monochrome set years ago...was a long lost relative's set that my parents had in storage since 1989. It worked but had one problem---ants. And lots (lots) of them. I regret that I couldn't be bothered to kill them all. :thumbsdn:

70s & 80s solid state tv's are my forte; for a number of reasons. Needless to say, the tube stuff is also great. When it comes to audio I'm all tubes.

Wait'll you get one of the Panasonic 1.5" sets-They're just sooo...ADORABLE...And so often have been treated w/lots of disrespect-Antennas broken, batt covers missing, etc. Why people PURPOSELY trash otherwise good stuff is beyond me.

I hope a VK moderator reads this and can tell us if it is a revenue-generating add-on for Videokarma itself. If it is, I would have no problem with it. More likely, though, it is some type of add-on, probably part of a "toolbar"-type program, that specific members here have on their own computers. Ed, a good way to test for this is to open this site using the Firefox browser, if you are normally using Internet Explorer instead. (Firefox is a free download.) Let us know if you still see those links in Firefox.

I only use the sony edition firefox they sell at walmart because Wallmart sells the best Sony flat screen televisions made in my favorite country that makes the best Walmart products from Sony.

As for the weird link in your post, check for weird addons on Firefox (toolbars, etc).

Yours is the AC-only version, sold primarily as a kitchen TV! Seems I recall it came with a swivel base? Mine operates on AC, and has a DC input and accessory cigar lighter power cord. At the time I thought it would be a good idea to have a TV that would run on 12VDC.

Well I have a lone small solid state but not 100% solid state tv as I'm sure it has a rectifier tube as the high voltage takes a couple of seconds to come up like a tube is warming up.It's a late 60s RCA 12 b/w".I was gonna post this earlier with pictures and chassis no. but I got tied up helping my boss with his boat.

I probably rescued this tv from the garbage as it was left on the tables by even the scavengers at Wilsons Auction in Lincoln,DE. The scavengers usually look for and take unwanted items left by the buyers at the end of the night and usually the rest goes in the dumpster. I tried this little tv and it worked fine.This was before the transition so I could actually get reception without a digital converter box.

So I adopted the little tv and I decided to keep it.
