David Roper 04-28-2011, 08:40 PM Anybody recognize what set was wrecked there?
jr_tech 04-28-2011, 08:41 PM Looks to me as if somebody stuffed a later 19" color set inside an older cabinet.:scratch2:

CoogarXR 04-28-2011, 08:54 PM I am too new to this game, I didn't even spot the hackery until you mentioned it.
jpdylon 04-29-2011, 12:52 AM Looks like what used to be a magnavox french provincial set that has a late 70s RCA XL-100 stuffed inside.
Jeffhs 04-29-2011, 01:43 AM I wonder what happened to the TV that used to be in that cabinet before the RCA was put in there. :scratch2: My best guess is there was a top-of-the-line Magnavox chassis in it at first, then the set developed problems (or the CRT went bad) and the cabinet was gutted. The RCA set was then installed in place of the old chassis. In any case, the job looks to have been very well done.
magnasonic66 04-29-2011, 03:32 AM I'm getting good at this, I guessed like jpdylon and Jeffhs did. The tambour doors tipped me off, and when I looked closer at the set, discovered it was a plastic cabinet table set. Also the 19 inch picture in that massive cabinet.
Bill Cahill 04-30-2011, 09:17 AM The cabinet looks like the set the Douglasses owned on Green Acres......

magnasonic66 04-30-2011, 05:43 PM Gee, it's funny you mentioned their set, this one reminded me of theirs, but I think the one on Green Acres was an Italian styled cabinet, and of course theirs was color, but I think the prop department used a black and white set.
wa2ise 04-30-2011, 06:01 PM At this point, it's probably somewhat acceptable to take out that tabletop color TV and put a flat screen in there... :scratch2:

Rough measurements from the photo indicate that a 32" might fit pretty well... it would certainly fill the available space better. It might look a little strange however, with the very dark "screen" in the white cabinet.

llcvt15 04-30-2011, 09:06 PM Makes me wonder though when that table top set was stuffed into that cabinet. Most people now-a-days don't even have late 70's RCA sets anymore cause they look "outdated"...

no.
magnasonic66 05-01-2011, 04:41 AM Why did I think it was Italian? I remember it was white, and the bezel (?) around the picture was of a black and white set. Ok, what make is the one Arnold is watching? Magnavox and Hotpoint had that style, and Motorola I think, even Admiral. Other things to watch out for are the "color" set on the dock in a dream sequence of "The Seven Year Itch", the Andrea "color" console in "Will Success Spoil Rock Hunter" and another "color" model in "The Girl Can't Help It". Thanks for putting this pic up.
dieseljeep 05-01-2011, 10:26 AM That set looks like a 1960 Zenith B&W set.
