Maybe I should put it in parts but thought it might not get seen there? NOS 16AP4? After lookin closer I think it must have been installed and used judging by the screen face but the neck looks new.

the silver getter looks like new silver and not white on my screen. The white stuff all over looks like that odd mold that gets all over electronic stuff. Could the dark areas on the screen be dirt from a smokey house? Could the tube have been saved because it had very low hours judging by the bright red RCA stamp on the black plastic? Maybe pulled from a set with a chassis that was deemed to much to repair? I just hope all will be certain that is a bad tube before it goes to trash because that silver getter looks new to me not white like others say.

You may be right, I see a lot of crud on that neck, and that may lead some to think that the getter went white. Of course, there may be some other problem with that tube, like weak cathode, shorts and so on...

I believe the first picture below is what you are mistaking for the Getter, this is where the Glass has been bombarded with Ions or Electrons and has discolored, notice it's right over the opening between the grids and follows it's curve.
I've seen that before on high mileage tubes.

The second picture shows the white Getter from a different angle.

I think that crt is a 16gp4. A 16ap4 has a longer neck.
