Looks pretty, wonder if the CRT is good?

Predictas are the most over priced sets. The cool space age look is really all its about.

I tested the CRT on three Predictas out here in southern California over the last six months. All the CRTs were dead or close to it.

That was one of the biggest problems with the Predictas.
almost all the 21" sets have bad picture tubes, the smaller 17" predictas seem to fare better.

That model doesn't interest me at all. The only predicta that interests me is the 17" table model with the power transformer. The CRT's are easier to get too. There's plenty of those lousy seventeener III's around with good CRT's.

I like my predicta a lot. its the 17" princess, red with white front and gold trim, with the trim CRT arms. I know a lot of people dont like them, but I found mine to be easy to work on. its very modular so you can pull the chassis and work on it. I did all the cap replacing without pulling the main pcb. There were a few that required bending my soldering gun tip, but for the most part is was no big deal. I don't think I would care for the holiday model as I prefer the transformer chassis as well.

My Sencore CR161 tester was very kind to my 21" barber pole CRT but you must use the lowest settings possible for these low filament voltage tubes and keep your fingers crossed! And I can understand, these sets may not be for everybody and especially to work on. I like it though.

Mine was given/saved for me quite a while back so it has a special value. Even though it now works, I still need to finish it up. The contrast pot is bad and I need to add an in-rush current limiter, make a new base for the cabinet, etc.

I like all the Predicta models, but my favorites are the Stereo Tandem in blonde and the Danish Modern model.

My favorite of the 17" models would have to be the siesta model with built in clock.

One day I want to find a blonde stereo tandem.
