I got that Zenith emperor back a coupe of months ago, on ebay. I did NOT realize it is so far from here, somehow I thought it was Iowa instead of Iadho!! I CANNOT go get it--and a ride for it has not materialized.....
SO....I am gong to put it up for any AK'er that wants to go for it. I will give you the contact info for the set, if anyone wants it. You have about a month to get it...beofre it "goes away for good" if you get my drift. I got it for 99cents, IIRC. I DO want it--but would rather someone here--on the west coast most likely--end up with it--than it end up in a dump.
Let me know---if anyone can get it--and I''ll put you in touch with the owner.

What kind of condition is it in? They made these from '65-'67. I personally like the '67 ones best, they had an unusual control panel. Do you have pics or a link to the auction?

Are u thinking about seeing if it can be picked up enroute from Oregon? If so, I might pay some of that shipping bill for you...

Yes Chris, I want to see if something can be worked out with the guy picking up the set in oregon. The guy is picking up the TV on Friday just curious what he'd charge to bring this one back with him. Might be able to kill two birds with one stone here. He has an enclosed motorcycle trailer so I know he'll have plenty of room assuming hes bringing nothing else back other that the '74 combo.
This emperor needs to be saved too. Now that I have a house with an easy access basement with stairs that lead straight down from the back door, it wouldn't be impossible to have a couple nice combos in the collection now. However, the real goal is to have a nice combo in my family room, not just throw it in a basement just to say I have it. I want to actually put one to use in normal conditions.
I also appriciate your offer too. Are you interested in wanting this set?
Hows the restoration on yours been going?

Who are we to scoff at young love?
Back on-topic....
My Emperor resto is at a standstill for the moment while I have my bathroom demolished.. But I think even Doug would approve of the way I repaired all the brittle/burnt HV leads. You can't tll it from "stock". However, I stlll need to re-do the sloppy cap replacement on the top of the chassis. Will revive the thread before I do.
The radio amp chassis is another story... I think all the output transistors are shorted... Only one channel worked when I got it, so I would recap the amp chassis. Problem is the old germainium transistors are hard to find (so I am told). Seems pointless to recap until I can sourse the transistors. Before anyone considered shipping it whole, I was going to contact the seller (again) and see if they'd sell just the radio chassis and the TV doors (one of mine has a minor flaw).

Aha! That's what the white triangle with red edges in the upper right corner of the post is! Never used it because I had no idea.

GOOD!! I hope someone here can get it--time is running out--but there is a little left. I am at work now--I will post ALL of the info I have on the set tonight when I get home.
It looks to be in good shape, and I will try and post a pix, but was not able to before, as it is too old to get the ebay pix now. It was missing those two middle"decorator legs" up front, as you may recall--but all else looked pretty good, from the pix.
AS long as an AK'er gets it--I would condider it in good hands.

OK all---here is the info I have on the set. FIrst--the
guy's email which should still be able to contact the seller with
Glen [
[email protected]]
when you get the guy's page--tell him that Jack South sent you about the Zenith Emperor.
So far--I have been unable to attach a picture, some kind of conflict. but the set looks good to me.
IIRC---he said it needs to be out by the 1st week of May or so...don't waste too much time--or you now what will happen to it....

I'm in Idaho and can pick it up. What city is it in? If still available.
