Every time I heard that horrible Family Ties theme I wanted to literally throw up. Especially at the ending when they sing: "...shalalalaa"
I can't think of a single theme song from the '70's up that sounds good to me. There must be good ones but I can't recall any.
Three's Company su--- to the max.
The Cosby Show was awful to me in every way but nothing holds a candle to the level of sickness I get at any scene from Erkel(not sure of spelling). I wish the producers of that show will loose all thier money and be forced to live with the poor people they helped "dumb down".

What about the "All in the Family" theme? "Those were the days"
Even the instrumental at the end "Remembering you" by Roger Kellaway was pretty catchy.

The Sanford and Son theme is pretty cool too.

I actually think the them song for All In The Family Is good enough as most can'ty be perfect. I proly wouldnt like the song if it were not attached to one of the most beautiful and inredible shows ever created. It was heartbreaking to see how the death of a good sweet son literally brought one of the greatest men on earth to an early grave. For those who don't know. Carol O'Conner son died of drug overdose. Thinking about all the factors invloved still makes me almost cry for them. Carol helped make this country better than it would have been without him. He is a beautiful man

I agree Carroll O'Connor was a brilliant actor.
There is an in depth interview with him on YouTube where he stated that Archie Bunker was the best role he ever played, because there was so much depth to him.

He also shed light on the fact that Norman Lear had little to do with the show and left most of it to his writers of which O'Connor himself was one.

Eventually Jean Stapleton left the show because they weren't giving her character much to do anymore.

She also had much to do in the success of the show as she brought out the good in Archie and was a counterpoint to his personality.

We simply don't have this level of writing and acting on television anymore.
These were actors from a much different generation.

O'Connor did a lot with the Bunker role. In real life he was politically opposite - He campaigned hard against Wallace in Florida when it looked like he would get the Democratic nomination.

"Who's The Boss ?" HATED the theme song, hated seeing Tony Danza eunuchised in that role...But then, OTOH, woulda been NICE to see Judith Light in a black leather SS teddy, spike heel boots & a whip going, "I'M yer Boss, Biach !...." Always thought she was kinda hawt for an older gal.

Heres a link to the first "All in the Family" pilot episode from 1968.

"Justice for All"

"Suggested for the mature audience"

In addition to having a slightly different arrangement to the theme song,it also contains an extra verse.

"had my twelve tube radio, loved the Eddie Cantor show, now where did all that beauty go?,those were the days"

I think Who's The Boss was completely awful but prolly not as awful as the spinoff with joey lawrense and his brothers living the perfect life with perfect everything so nice, nice, nice all the time! AHHHH! I haven't figured it out yet but clearly I have some problem with people being as nice and sweet as maple syrup 24 hours a day. For some reason it makes me think they are fake and disingenuous, etc.
I do like what I have seen of Maude on youtube. I found the intro to be entertaining as Bea Arthur makes faces that I just find cute.

I got to meet Ms. Barbeau one time. She was an old friend of a friend in Nashville, TN. Fun girl.

I HAD to watch Maude. I worked in a TV station, and had to screen EACH episode for quality before they aired. I remember never running show #4, as they said there was something technically wrong with it. I don't remember what it was.

Most hated show? "Three's Company." And it is STILL on the satellite!!

I think that would be a great job unless I had to watch 3's company which I think is one of the most awfully stupd shows ever created. I hate the song and everything about it. I like Barney in Andy Griffith and the other landlord in other things but in 3's company they literally su--!
