KV-3000R SWOOPED on eBay! I don't know what go into me, but I guess I couldn't resist. I've had two of these, and this is probably the last chance to find one with the original Tamo wood remote, and the original accessory cabinet.

I'll try to go up there and get it the week after Thanksgiving. My sister-in-law lives there, so it'll be a good excuse to go.

This needs to be in someone's MAN CAVE! This is just too awesome of a unit to just sit in someones spare bedroom. If we had the money we would take the tv out and figure a way to put a flat screen in it.!!!

I have no idea where I'm going to stick it yet, (No lewd comments please), but I'll make room. What really fascinates me, is that it comes with ALL of the original stuff. Even the one I bought brand-new, was missing the video rack. And it was a SUPPLIED accessory. I'm anxious to see what shape the CRT is in, as those do have a bad reputation for going soft. The one good one I knew of, got busted on a cross-country move by another TV collector. If this one is good, I might make the set a part-time daily watcher. That chassis is based on an industrial 24/7-duty monitor, and is just about indestructible with a million fuses and protection circuits.

I'm now in the planning stages to haul the 510-lb thing home; next week weather permitting.

Thats what I did and now I have it sitting in the living room as a conversation piece. And it truely too. Evertyone that comes over I just have to show it off with the motorized doors.

And all the paperwork, wow! Thats amazing. Both remotes too and the accessory cabinet looks great! Dude way score!

Thanks! I was shocked to find it in this condition (with all the stuff with it). I had some thought of taking the wooden sheath off the RM-706W remote, and having a woodcrafting shop duplicate it. I don't know if there are more than two of those existing, as most of the KV-3000s seem to have only the non-wooden RM-706. I'm not sure if you got the paperwork with yours, but I could make you good quality color copies if you like. In fact, I may still have the sales receipt from the one I bought new in '86 at Adray's, which would be a neat curio to add to either set's papers. I'm hopeful that my wife will be on the same page, and will be happy to have it in the house, since it has a nice cabinet and actually can be watched. She isn't quite so enthusiastic about LARGE TVs that are for decorative purposes only, or cars that are to be looked at and not driven, LOL.

You're not kidding! 510 lbs uncrated. I plan to pull the chassis (comes out in 1 piece with CRT), and move it separately. If there's to be a stunt/showoff picture, I'll wear a belt & straps ;) . I couldn't resist doing this picture for my fellow air raid siren collectors. This siren I'm holding, weighs about the same as that Sony TV. Great find and beautiful set! Hopefully it will be in good operating condition.

If memory serves right, don't think the Profeel line was introduced until much later, early 80's. Also, 30 inch may be the largest Profeel, but Sony made a 40 inch Trinitron for the U.S. market and a 43 inch for the Japanese market.

I haven't gone up there yet (last weekend being Thanksgiving traffic, and this weekend threatening rain). I paid for it when I won it, and they're being VERY patient (knock on wood)... I plan to call them today, and see if I can go Wednesday (weather permitting).

Got home with it at 2:00 this morning! I finally had a chance on a day with nice weather to go up and get the KV-3000... Nice people (grandson of the original owner, & wife). Luckily, the grandson is also a weightlifter, so we were able to get all 510 lbs of it loaded without any damage to us or the TV, although I bet the rear shocks in my truck are oozing oil this morning. I did pull the chassis to make it a little easier to deadlift, but reinstalling the chassis into the cabinet in the truck wasn't fun. I didn't leave LA until after lunch, so I got to Las Vegas around 4, and basically disassembled & loaded the set and turned around.

I'm thrilled that it came with ALL of the original paperwork, and both original remotes (the RM-706 and the "showoff" RM-706W solid wood remote).

What a huge hunk of steel, glass, and hardwood! My Toyota V6 4 liter, which usually pulls like a V8, was laboring and downshifting and laboring to haul that TV up over the 5000-ft Halloran Summit on I-15 out of Las Vegas. Used nearly a tank of gas to get from Las Vegas to Barstow, which really shows the load! I had the TV all covered and secured with a new blue tarp over furniture blankets, and a bungee cargo net, so no problems with some light rain I went through.

Today I'll unload it, and figure out where to stick it (no lewd comments please, although I know that some would be in good order) ;) .

Too bad you didn't have my Mighty Valdez- a V-10 Y2K 4WD Excursion...It wouldn't have even known the big Sony was back there...But woulda still used a tank o' gas from Lost Wages to Barstow, 'cause that's just what it does...(grin)

Thats awesome Charles!! I remember picking mine up down there in my 1998 Chevy Tahoe 4x4 350v8 yadda yadda.. Drove out to my brothers place in Perris and drove it back here with the TV inside the Tahoe! Yup.. It fit barely with about an inch of rtoom to spare on top of the set to the headliner on the truck. That puppy sat like it had hydros even as it's lifted. I felt the engine labour as I went up the grapevine. Man that was a fun trip.. My brother however picked up this set in Hollywood Hills with his 2009 Toyota Tacoma Xrunner. (basically a slammed tacoma TRD from Toyota with a 6 speed manual and a big V6). His truck however is not set up to take the weight of the 510lb beast.. We had a good laugh though when he ripped his muffler off on a curb.. Of course I shelled out the ponies to get it repaired. lol

Safe & sound in the house ;) . I wrestled it out of the truck last night, and pulled the chassis to move it inside more safely. Going to work on cleaning it up and putting it together during the next several days of rain.
