This has been a question that bothered me, and though it's not necessarily TV-related, it is in the sense that it appeared on-camera in "SCTV News" sketches in the first three seasons at least of Second City TV. A few clips with this microphone (as on the news anchor desk) can be seen on:

The question is: Would anyone know which brand and make this mic is?

I do not know but for fun I will guess Sony.

looks like an RCA ribbon cardioid (unidirectional)

The mike is an RCA BK-5 Ribbon Microphone. Primarily unidirectional. It was also used on mike booms in the '60s.

Probably the BK-5B version, based on the fact that Global TV (where the first two seasons of SCTV were produced) first started in 1974.
