Saturday i got a call from an aquaintance whom has collected radios,televisions, juke boxes, cars and and a kitchen of the 50's modernizm with all of the appliances from that era. The call was a about a 1968 Sears b&w made by Westinghouse. After removing the dust the set would not turn on, it was dead. i took the set and had a look, maybe one of the tube filaiments was open? so i decided to check the tubes starting with the horizontal output, i pulled the tube to find a pin missing one on the end of the pin configuration meaning now there are two ways to plug the tube in.
The missing pin had no connection in the tube and it tested good on the tester so i took a good look plugged in the tube, It works and here is Johnny's set. It was pobably a spare tv with few hours with all original tubes and parts!

Trying to help with the pictures. I can view them on photostream but nothing I do works to get them to show up here.

You need to take a couple extra steps to link a Flickr photo.

The Flickr pages just end with a slash, but images will only show in the forum if the URL ends in .jpg

One way to to it is to go to the image page and right-click on it. You'll get a choice of several images sizes.

Choose one of them. That will take you to a new page. Then, right click on the picture and choose copy image location.

Paste that between tags. Viola!

I tried to fix them too with no luck, CTC17 seems to have solved the problem!

I use Photobucket and they are easy: they give you the .img tag line to copy and then paste into your post.

I don't think the set is from 1968. The Westinghouse logo is where the UHF selector would have been if it were an all-channel set.
Any VHF-only set would be 4/30/1964 or sooner.

Good point of historical reference. I forgot one important detail, The set was manufactured in Ontario by the Canadian division of Westinghouse for the Canadian Sears department stores. The requirement for all new tv sets in Canada to have UHF tuner and be all channel sets did not start until 1970.

Great picture on that Westinghouse TV. Is it OTA (broadcast) or cable? If OTA, you must have an excellent antenna since your area is probably at least 150 miles from Seattle, Washington. I'm thinking you are receiving that station since the TV's channel selector looks like it's on channel 7, Seattle's CBS affiliate -- KIRO-TV.

Is that Westinghouse logo original?
It looks like it was drawn with a Sharpie marker.

zenith2134, Johnny is a collector of juke boxes tvs radios and has a full functioning kitchen out of the 50s. appliances and all, from the 50s. Johnny is auto body craftsman with an eye for micro detail and can color match paint beyond detection also is into wood working and detailing. Just another super skilled individual with cool toys that belongs on this forum!

Jeffhs, The image you see is a analog cable image, also i can still receive three stations with a antenna if you go to my post "lost in space"(rectangular tube & solid state you will see a Philco Safari,
Motorola Astronaut and a Sony 8-301 receiving siginals using thier bult in antennas.

RobtWB, Yes you are right the missing cover was replaced with paper and marked with a sharpie, also just above the channel selector there is a paper lable with Sears written on it.
