The underside of that chassis looks pretty cool. I'm thinking more like late 40s not 50s.

Wow, that thing has some serious looking chassis components in it. Like the seller suggests, 'military'. Did some stuff that came out of Russia look like that on the underside?

that's all wire lacing underneath, a required skill in both military and telephone work until the 70s. The wiring and components all scream military.

I wonder if it ever worked?

Holy High Voltage!, it has a Zenith Flyback like the one I need for my 10" Porthole!

The whole HV assembly looks like it came from a Zenith, IB3 socket, Doorknob cap and all.

If there's a weak link on that set that's it!

It would be interesting to get a gander at that schematic. Presumably the design must have been capable of working in some fashion. Or maybe not. The seller says the builder made "some changes" . . . .

I don't know. That tuner looks original to me.
I think it may be a company upgrade.
Looks like a military style set from the late 40's. I suspect it worked.
It would have to be re built now. Atleast electrolytics, and, the loose paper caps.
I love the wiring. Looks so Dumont!
I saw that set yesterday on eaby. Neat set. Wish it was mine.
I think it should be saved, and, restored.
On your Zenith. Maybe you could talk to the other guy who did a retro in ARF, and, retrofit another flyback to your Zenith.
I wouldn't wreck this rare set for that.

I wouldn't use this set for parts either, and yes, it's an aluminized tube, most likely a 10FP4.

With all the Mil Spec parts it might work now, or at least not need much to get it working.

It would be hell to troubleshoot I suspect.

I have some surplus coils like the ones on the sub-chassis. I suspect this company or some of its employees had military contract work at some time. An engineer steeped in mil-std design could have had a hand in this! However the bathtub caps, strap-mount caps and ceramic standoffs could have been procured as surplus as well. They had a rather small-quantity run, it appears. A list price for this would be nice to have.

As for the harness, my Heathkit HR-10 had one, as did some other stuff I worked on in my factory days. The Vertical output, flyback, cardboard-cased 'lytics and tuner all scream television.
