Hi All,
Working on a Toshiba model 20AF43, chassis M3M727, made April 2003. I have poor purity on the right & left side of the screen, (center of screen OK). Like it needs to be degauassed...I can't find my degausing coil at this time (haven't used it in years) & don't have that new of a Sam's photofact to do the purity adjustment steps. I didn't think those newer sets ever had purity issues. The magnet rings around the CRT neck are still glue fixed in place. Thanks in advance for anyone's suggestions or 2 centz.

I wouldn't move the magnets. Find your coil. I found mine after a good day of hunting.

Then there is the trick of using an old Weller soldering gun clicked on and waving the body (transformer) ala the coil if yours is hiding.

For those following this post...the set works fine & has no purity problem when the set is in the normal upright position with the back cover on. I had it on its side for troubleshooting. Evidently the set goes out of purity when operated on its side. I still have a problem with a bad tuner connection. When I put pressure on the rear of the tuner to the right I loose signal. A classic bad connection. I heated up all the solder joints associated with the tuner & nearby points on the circuit board and still have the bad connection the customer complained about. The customer has been putting a weight on the input cable to keep contact but it won't stay put. Maybe a hair-line crack in one of the foil traces on the board near the tuner? Looking for any other suggestions...thanks again in advance.

well I can tell you my old all tube zenith does the same thing, purity goes to heck when laid on its side, ok when upright. I had it on the side to expose the chassis thru the service saver.
