here are some pics of my magnavox bicentennial.set was obtained in a rather dubious trade with a fellow ak er.the owner passed away and the set was purchased at an estate auction.actually, nobody wanted it.auctioneer sold it to ak er along with a ctc 10 and a jvc umatic machine and some videotape.i have yet to watch these.crt is strong and set plays very well.i did have to replace the oval cap but other than that, set has played flawlessly.pics are from my cellphone

Nice pic, did it need any work at all?

it was horribly out of convergence and purity.the crt checks better than new and the 2uf 660vdc cap shorted as we were negotiating a deal.this is a very nice playing and looking set.very expensive as it was purchased at lazarus back in 1976.the receipt shows a price tag of 999.00!this was a real find and i am glad to rescue this before it was shorted out or hacked up.it is one of my daily watchers along with my zenith chromacolorII and my rca xl100.i have them all connected up and watch all 3 at the same time!i have alot of time on my hands

i wish it was spot on.this one didnt really set up too well.it looks good, but far from perfect.each corner has an issue.back in the "shop"days,i set convergence on everything that went out.i have lots of patience.the other techs hated it,therefore,it was my baby.got very good at it,even with inlines.my xl100 is nearly perfect.very slight r/g on the bottom.at 6 feet away not noticable.sylvanias from the early hybids to the last delta gun sets, always converged perfectly.i have one that another ak er gave me,(thanks, bryan)and although the original black matrix crt is gone,it still produces a solid, crisp picture.it too is almost perfect.i will post pics of it when i get the cabinet done.

One of my 67 Maggies seemed to be all to finicky with convergence as well. The top R/G vert would never come in perfect. I ended up doing a slight modification to the convergence board to extend the R/G vert pot range. Worked like a charm :) I still believe it was a yoke issue believe it or not. I tried another yoke and it was good

those older maggies were great to converge!never had much trouble.this one is a bear though.it looks good, but i would like it to be as close to perfect as can be.each corner has an issue.all pots have a full range and maybe its just me being a cranky old man.overall,it works well.i have only seen one other set like this.it was in a home in dublin ohio.very high dollar.set was pushed up against the wall and the focus stem was out of adjustment.easy repair.pull out the stem and lock it in.service call back in the early 80s.pretty picture on these magnavoxs.995 chassis is a good performer too.i will keep this one unless a sylvania with a black matrix crt comes along..........
