The Sams is a 98? Dang big ole transformer and it's in up North in Oregon so possibly it's Canadian?
It's pretty beat, CRT is missing the base and possibly broken.

Looks like a Hallicrafters to me. It's definately American.
Looks like a broken 10BP4. 5U4 is in the wrong socket.
Looks like it's worth restoring. Wish I could get it.

I searched Sams Website and the only thing I could find that had both 2002 in the model and 98 in the Sams number was a Teledyne (Packard Bell)

this Sparton has a similar bezel, though the control layout is way different

I don't have PF 98, but here are a couple of PB models from 1951 that look somewhat similar.
The 2204 uses the same type of bezel mount as the set in question, but has a pencil box on the front.
The 2301 looks similar and has the secondary controls mounted on the back, with no pencil box.
On both models the power xfmr appears to be sub-mounted, but in the same location as the 1949 model (the 2002).
Of course, both have larger screens than the 1949 model in question.

Hi all. I'm the one who purchased this TV. I'm going to pick it up next Thursday. :banana:

I was browsing the net, trying to find someone who could identify this set and found this website. Looks like a lot of knowledgeable people here.

Once I get it home, I can post more photos. Is there anything in particular I should check to identify it's manufacturer?

I was kind of thinking it was a 1949 style GE. The bezels look very similar to the one on this tv.

I'm quite certain it's not a GE, the knobs are too far apart.

I think the closest we found is maybe a Packard Bell, in any case probably not any of the major brands, which makes it more interesting I think.

When you get it please post some pictures, with a little more detail we might be able to pin it down.

Picked up the Television today. It's a... drum roll please!

Packard Bell

There are two references to the maker in the cabinet. One is listed below the UL certification and again saying to talk to your Packard Bell representative about properly installing the antenna.

I've just got back from a 14 hour drive to pick it up and am exhausted. I'll post some pictures tomorrow. There looks to be 3 missing tubes. If I can find the type needed, I may need your help trying to get it up and running.
