A buddy at work gave this to me for free, just thought I'd share. He said something's going on with it, but didn't elaborate. I love a good mystery! Anyone have any gripes or common faults with these sets that I should look for right off the bat, besides it wieghing exactly 1 metric ton? :D

Since it is a color Sony set, the fast, simple answer is "bad electrolytic caps", but I have not worked on that specific era of sets to have a better answer.
I know that if you get it fixed, it will have an excellent picture if you feed it an HD signal.

How many flashes of the standby light are you getting? Cold solder joints on the FBT and the dreaded 18 pin IC's for sync and sound (I believe). HOT's. Thats about it. CRT's seem die hard.

BTW, judging from the pic you posted im going to take a guess... Two RCA's an Admiral and a Sony?

Update: seems nothing was wrong with it! Dropped it off at my folks' house, since their RCA floor console had bleeding red colors. Has a great picture, can't wait to see Blue Ray on it!
Freak: close, but no cigar. The set the Tinitron is sitting on is an Admiral, on the ground behind it is a larger Admiral with remote, and on top of that is a CTC-38. MARK STILL NEEDS TO PICK THEM UP!!! lol
