I lust after any black lacquer finish set, this one too but they're always too far away or someone else gets there first. Maybe someday...
The cataract must be why he says the screen is bad, I bet the tube is good looking at the condition of the rest.

That chassis should be a CTC-21.

That set was $1150 when new. My have the HH-858 (from memory) that is the light maple early American finish/cabinet.

I sent an email to the advertiser. May be a job for uship. :c) We will see.

Seems those CTC-21 based sets are getting pretty darn rare. Trying to find a fly for one, RCA part# 115876 is pretty tough. I know Moyers has been out of them for a long time. They just don't turn up that often and with the price tag of over $1100 bucks back in 67/68, that was some serious coin. I think I read where the Merrill (CT-100) was made in quantities of around 4000 units. I would suspect they probably didn't make too many more than that of these combos of any given level and that figure probably represents all of the models in that pricing level. If someone has better figures, I would love to know them.

If those figures are remotely accurate, given the population, there are probably very, very few....maybe less than a couple of hundred examples out there at best. I have only seen 4 of the HH-858 from 1967, the Brandywine in my lifetime. I am lucky to have one, my family set. My mother's supervisor had one. A fellow collector picked one up in Georgia or Alabama (can't remember) and I saw another collector with one that was a family set. Pretty small pickins. Now to have seen this Oriental model, that makes 5 CTC-21 based sets that I know of. There might have been a 6th but I can't get any info on it. A friend of my mother's who passed away not long after my mother did, had one that was a mahogony french provential 21 based combo. I have tried to rescue that set for years but can't get info on it and I am afraid they may have pitched it. (Just the thought breaks my heart).

If the CTC-40 combos are scarce, these may even be more so. Any thoughts out there would be most appreciated.
