Craig, your radio is done but it squeals at a loud volume now. It sounds like something is oscillating. I'll fix that this weekend if I have time. I had to replace the tweeter as it was blown and a few tubes. I cleaned it up nice but the Zenith logo started coming off the faceplate. I'll figure out the squealing and then you can have 'er back, sure sounds good now at a low volume with the new Zenith tweeter though.

My parents have the same one. It is their bedroom tv now, and just last week I set up a converter box for them. It still displays a good picture, but I think the green is a little weak.

I hope everything works out. That's actually my favorite style of CCII, which was used from roughly '74-'78. I have a '76 model that I need to get back in operation.

Your welcome again Mark! Sometimes i browse the free section on Craigslist to see what people are offering even though most of it is crap. I used to love helping people in need by giving things away for free, but after seeing people take advantage i take all my unwanteds, and donate them to good old Value Village where the items are resold to help out real people in need. Not anybody who is a needy imposter who drives in a Caddillac Escalade to pick up the item off my front porch. If they are needy why are they driving an overpriced vehicle? On Freecycle i used to see peoples free want lists, and what they wanted for free just pissed me off. I used to get the same Emails from people no matter what i was giving away on Freecycle. Those were the leeches.

i am with you.i have given away plenty of things to people and they pull up in an escalade or a moutaineer with a tv,dvd player,etc.i drive a 2005 ranger pickup that we rebuilt from a wreck.they should give me something!i had a free matress to give away a couple of weeks ago.a lady called and i said frist come,first serve.she wanted me to deliver it.of course she lived 45 miles away.couldnt do it.she came after it in a gmc yukon.top of the line model.you know the story-single mom,3 kids,going to school,deadbeat ex,no child support,etc.she scoped out the garage and asked for just about everything.there was something about her clothes.250.00 shoes and designer apparel.i told her we had bedbugs.had to fumigate the house.the language that came out of this poor,abandoned woman.she hightailed it back to wilmington empty handed!another couple pulled up in an old pontiac.knocking and smoking.they left loaded down with stuff and a promise to help someone else when they could.i enjoyed helping them just as much as messing with the other one.

Over the years, I've tried to give TV's away to several "in need" people. One woman, who claimed she was trying to start over after a burnout, let me know that she couldn't use anything smaller than a 27" TV with remote and it had to be cable ready. I thought to myself, "If this woman is doing well off enough to the point that she can demand what she must have, she can pay for it". I told her that I had just what she needed for $150 and that was the end of her. Had she kept her mouth shut about what she had to have, she could have gotten the same TV for free.

And, I just love the sob stories from people on CL who want a free TV; but, it must be a large HD flat panel set.

Hell, if I was in the shape that some of these people claim to be in, I'd be happy with a 9" B&W with a cracked case.

I only remember one person who was actually happy to get what I was offering. She was the sister of a family friend and her then ex-husband was the typical deadbeat who was physically and emotionally abusive to her and the kids, and was involved in alcohol, drugs, pornography, etc. When she made the wise decision to leave, she ended up with an old trailer with no furnishings and the family was trying to get some stuff together. We had a '60's era hide-a-bed sofa, in good condition, and I had recently picked up and fixed a 25" Zenith System 3 TV in a large, woodgrain particleboard case and she was happy to get these items. A year later, I heard that the TV was still working fine.

Everything goes straight to a small religious mission thrift store near me. Their prices are what a "thrift" store should be. They are also very nice and grateful for whatever you bring to them. More than I can say for the larger thrift operations in town. And I swear there are people looking and asking for free stuff on CL that are just holding perpetual garage sales.
