I thought the photo a bit odd, but it was close so I drove out to check it out.

Turned out to be a partical board/veneer late 80's early 90's Push button tuner etc.. I think it was not t zenith.

I should have known better, next time I will ask for a couple more pics.

I learned early on in my antique radio collecting hobby to get plenty of information before going to look at a radio. Too many times, I've been told, "Oh, I have a real old radio". I'd arrive to find a cheap 10 year old transistor portable.

About a year ago, I placed a "wanted" ad in the paper for old TV's and I thought I made myself quite clear as to what I was looking for. Every call that I received was from someone wanting to sell me their 5 year old plastic crap. And, most of the callers sounded old enough that they should have known the difference between a 5 year old plastic junker with buttons and a TV with a rotary tuner.

Pretty sure it's an RCA CTC-10. That "picture" is really just a media player skin that was created years ago (pre YouTube) to simulate watching vintage color clips on a roundie.

Damn dirty trick to use it for a bait-'n'-switch.

had a call just yesterday for an ad on craigslist.radios wanted!1935-1946 tube type,consoles,tabletops.the caller had an "old"radio she wanted to get rid of.45 miles away.i asked her some info but she was vague.i asked for a picture.she texted me a clock radio from the 70s.ge to boot.when you advertise for tube type tvs you always get a zenith from the 90s or maybe a ktv from the 80s.i even post pictures of items but they just dont seem to understand

Now, "tube type TV" means any TV with a picture tube (no matter the age). When I first started fixing TV's, around 20 years ago, "tube type TV" meant a TV that actually used vacuum tubes; and, I was finding plenty of them back then. The early '90's fell into that era where the final round of tube TV's were being replaced with solid state sets.

I don't think a lot of these schloggmeisters even KNOW what a "Tube" is anymore...

I had a woman call me late one night - obviously she found an early-60's color Magnavox on the curb waiting for the garbage man. She rattled off a legit model number and all. Said it was her aunt's around the corner and she hated to see it get thrown away, and kept asking how much I paid for old TVs. I basically told her nothing if they're on the curb but I'd throw her ten bucks 'cause I'm a nice guy. She said she was going to get her husband to put it in his truck so no one else would take it, then called back saying about how heavy it was, and how much did I pay again? Really came across like a jonesing drug addict. Maybe the husband dropped it - maybe on her - she never did call back.
