Hey guys, this is something I have wondered for a while.
Here is a color watchman and CRT. It's not a trinitron CRT, I have seen these in person before. Did Sony priduce the CRT or is it another brand? I'll bet is Matsushita.

This must be the only Sony besides the Admiral rebadged Sony back in 1966 I think that actually didn't use a trinitron CRT...

I THINK that is the set that uses the same CRT as in my olds. I recall an article mentioning that Sony had decided to use the "short neck trinitron 5" tube--that had been designed for an upcoming automotive touch screen--surely my trofeo--- (as it IS a 5" trinitron tube and monitor)--back in 1987--and were going to use it in a portable tv too. The actual touch plate IS in FRONT of the tube--NOT on the face of it.

I got one of those-It was a white demo model-for about $40- about 20 yrs ago. IIRC, it had a decent pic, but it WASN'T a Trinitron. They also have an FM radio in 'em that was of no special quality. I gave it to my 1st cousin when she was in Knoxville-I wonder if she still has it ? It WAS branded "Sony" but just didn't have that certain "Sony" look about it.

Yes, it's a Chinese POS. Not a real Trinitron tube, and I recall it doesn't even say Sony on the tube. No reason not to get one for a Sony collection, and I have one. Cheap vari-cap tuner with dial cord that slips, and loses tension causing drifting. Rotten, washed-out picture you'd expect on a cheap GE set though. Reminds me of a drug store cheap-O transistor radio.
