Show just ended here at 2:AM and I can't confirm it's name but I am sure many here know of it...anyway... the episode where they get two old visible gas pumps that come from I think Louisiana and the man who the got it from has like 5 acres of junk including TV's. The coppers have threatened to clear out much and it has the owner a bit upset. He seems like a wonderful gentleman that hs spent his life collecting... anyway... I am announcing here because it seems to me there could be some valuable CRT's in that stuff. It looks to be all outdoor but I did not see the whole episode. I am in southeast Fla or I would check it out myself.
The show is very good for obvious reasons and it helps some dummies like me learn how to negotiate. I used to get irratated that sellers don't simply state the price but do it like car salesmen but I am learning to respect all others in every way and I am starting to "get it"! If I irratate anybody please understand I attended school in Florida and my parents had to work for a living and thus could not teach me what they should have :) At least I am not going to repeat the cycle... my children will learn what is most important as early as possible.

I wonder where in Louisiana? If they showed any of the area I may recognize it if they were south of I-10 and this side of Lafayette.

If they handled CRTs like they handle those gas pumps, they'd just have a bunch of Doodle Dust to show for their trouble...The thought of a Pilot TV-37 tube or a 7JP4 rollin' around & bustin' in the back of that Mercedes van makes me somewhat ill...

Don't ever see much of that on American Pickers, and yes I do look very closely for old tvs and radios. I think only once were they shown a Radiola set, and they kind of feigned interest in that. I would guess that if you aren't educated in what to look for, that picking up old radios and tvs will burn you every time.

I've seen a lot of criticism on them where they are characterized as ripping off old people who don't know any better; but when I watch this with my friends who are antique dealers, they just can't believe they are offering as much cash as they do for the items they buy. From my point of view, it doesn't seem like they usually collect enough stuff to really justify driving across the country and back to still collect a profit from it selling it at auction.

reminds me of a guy in washington ch oh that had a tv junkyard.
most were falling apart and rusted.
bought many a good crt out of that mess.
at $5 ea it was worth going in with an inverter,deep cycle battery,and the 467 to test them.
then battle wasps,hornets,rats and impending collapse of the pile.the county made him clean it up in the late 80's.
much of it was lost to the weather anyway.well picked over.
