I just got done with a RCA model 14-S-7052 metal cabinet portable tv. I have 2 concerns: the first is the flyback, I makes a static discharge sounding tick after it has been run for about an hour. If I turn the brightness all the way up and the tick will go away, turn it down and it ticks quite often. Is this a problem? I have calibrated the horiz. wave form and on the bench in my cool basement the fly runs about 85 degrees or so measured with a point and click digital thermometer.Number 2;That being said running in the cabinet is another story,as you look at the set from the front the 5y3,6ax4, 6cg7 and the 6dq6a tubes are all in a line from top to bottom in the set and the heat travels right next to the fly-box. I have measured the top of the set at 168 degrees f. I do not remember the fly tick when it was not in the cabinet but I maybe did not notice it.Well, Is the tick from the fly a bad thing? What about the heat? The set has a great , clear picture but I do not want to buy another fly unless I have too, thanks.

Update, as of right now I found that the width was way too wide. I narrowed it up and adjusted the centering magnets and the problem with the tick seems to have gone away. hopefully it will not come back. As for the heat issue, I found that I was pointing the digital thermometer by accident through the top "slits" right at a tube. The set still gets hot but the cabinet side of the flyback box was running at 80 degrees. I can live with that.
