The next resto is on the bench. An Admiral 12X12. Does anyone have a schematic (I think it's Sams 100-1) or know where to get one?
Ordered the caps, got to fabricate a filter choke, audio output transformer and speaker assembly. The CRT is original and checks weak but it looks like the Beltron will wake it up.
It's a heavy beast with the bakelite cabinet.
Love the original 6BG6 output! It's hugh!

If you can't find a hard copy you can get a download from Sams' website - it ought to be $7.00 for something that old.

Cool! I have a 22X12 with the same 20Z1 chassis. Did the original speaker get trashed ?

The speaker is missing. I have had this set since grammer school and it ended up in the closet many years ago when too many other projects got in its way. It replaced a 17 inch dual chassis Philco my Mother "gave" away as being too "dangerous" for me at the time. I kinda kept it quiet that this one worked to prevent it from gettting the same fate.
The TS-4 and TS-14 Motorolas got me interested again so, since they're done, its time for the Admiral! It has the "Admiral corp" logo in paint on the picture tube!
I took the speaker out long ago but it wasn't with the TV when I pulled it from the closet (really an attic room). I checked and the output transformer was on the speaker assembly and it doubled as a choke for the power supply.
This set looks more sophisticated than the Motorolas (removeable tuner, IF assembly).
I'm glad it went into the closet as that saved it, a 14 inch Philco "transitone" and a 17 inch Crosley. I'm going to bring the camera home tonight and post pictures tomorrow!

That is more comprehensive than I thought! It does explain the difference in the speakers (mine did have an elctrodynamic but Sams said permanent magnet. Glad I'm not crazy (yet). Caps are ordered and cleanup is beginning!

I am out of town for a few more days but I am reasonably sure I have the Wallaces on this model/chassis. I think that I even made a hard copy but if not, I can copy it for you. Again, I am reasonably sure I have it. If the copy you have is not good enough, please let me know. Send an email or PM. I am on dial-up right now so I don't get to this site as often as at home.

Nice set and it should fix up well. They don't usually have problems with flybacks or yokes...

Glad these may not have too bad of an appetite. I am always careful with older yokes. They love to get brittle.
This set has a lot of hours on it, both from me when I was young and before I got it. It has a myriad of replacement name and color capacitors underneath!

I haven't restored my set yet and look forward to following your progress. I can easily pull the chassis out of mine if you need to compare yours to another.

Quick update! All wax caps changed, original electrolytics won't reform (talk about HOT cans!) so they are replaced with tubulars underneath for now. The speaker choke is now a choke from a Dynaco Stereo 70 amplifier (bought it separate on 'bay, no donor amp was scavanged). Now it has high voltage (lots of it)! and a vertical line on the screen. The vertical is disconnected for a bit more work. That comes tonight! Pictures very soon!

Hmmm... the post just disappeared. Here we go again. It's got a picture! A shorted vertical hold control, a number of high wattage resistors and a arc for the first few minutes in the picture but it does have a picture! The CRT has had a brightner for decades and I found out, it never needed it. I took a chance and adjusted the ion trap and now it has plenty of brightness and contrast! Still has small vertical and other issues but it's getting there:thmbsp:

Do you have pics of the entire set? I am curious to see what it looks like!

I'll get them over the weekend. I have to neaten up the underneath a bit from the last round of troubleshooting. The cabinet is in good shape. It is missing the little door but that seems common. These can be a fun set to work on!

Very Nice! My dad used to fix my Grandmother's Admiral, same model back in the 50s. Glad you got it going...

This is a hungry TV! Vertical output transformer, shorted the vertical hold control again, 12AU7 vertical output tube, and now, once again, not enough vertical height! I'm going to ohm out all the vertical resistors tonight and hope for a bad one.

Here we go again! Yoke failure. Playthings of the Past is sending me one. I wonder if I put a credit card reader on the chassis to feed it like a money drip is in order!:D Weird thing is the failure started out as a "shadow" on the right side of the screen.
Also, slow warmup of contrast was the 6AS5 audio output tube. Pictures when the yoke is in.
