A friend called me indicating there was an estate sale for a 90 something year old that had passed and his family was cleaning out the house. I called on the number and asked what kinda stuff was there. When they told me there was an "antique" tv I figured it was a 70s console or something (fairly typical around here.) When they told me it was an Admiral I decided to take a look.
When I pulled up, I saw dumpster after dumpster of junk. However inside I saw the TV mounted into the wall! The fella who lived here saved everything and this was the original TV set that he had bought shortly after moving in. It was still in use up until the point where the digital transition had happened.
The only bummer was that he had tossed the legs to mount it in a wall cabinet. The people in charge of the estate had also tossed the remote, what a bummer. "We figured people just wanted to take the tubes out of it. We were going to trash it with the rest of the junk." They had also thrown the back cover out, but I found it in one of the dumpsters.
I plan to restore the set, but I'm debating whether to find the remote holder or just cover it over.
Not bad for $20 dollars. Anyone got any legs , remote, or holder lying around? :D
