This must be a new way to check your flyback. Wish i knew this years ago!!!!!!!!
" I have just tried this & now i do not get a screen, however i still got a good glow in the back of main picture tube, which means flyback/transformer is still good! "
Read about it here!!!!!

I guess if you got a glow with smoke it would be even better! By the way, what's an "airloom?" Is that what you use to weave the Emperor's New Clothes?

And if it really was, wouldn't it technically be a Green & White TV? With a very long persistence?

Probably yellow. The Raytheon round-screen radars that were on the old ships i used to work on had yellow screens.

I have the same set in blonde. It's from 50 not 52 and I think it's a nice set. I fear he's fried his based on the lousy description.

Right P7 phosphor. That gives me a crazy idea. I have a bunch of military surplus electrostatic CRTs I got from Fair Radio Sales years ago. Some P1 (green), a couple huge 12FP7 (yellow) and a P31 (orange) I think. I bet with a little tinkering I can get them to work in a 7JP4 set :scratch2:

The glow must be the flyback frying ......

Is it just my imagination, or does the set have a raster with retrace lines on the screen?
It sure looks like it does to me - especially on the 2nd picture. You can see a couple retrace lines too.

Yes, I DEFINATELY see a very dim raster...

Most of the other tubes are still glowing.
I have also reduced the price as well."
Perhaps it made a raster when he took the pictures (about 2 weeks before the listing), But he tried it again just before listing, and it no longer light up, so he lowered the price from what he intended:
"*now* I do not get a screen"
"however i *still* got a good glow in the back of the main picture tube"
"I have also *reduced* the price"
just a guess,:scratch2:

That's what I think too. I saw this set listed weeks ago for quite a bit more $$.

X2 on the raster
For some reason , he lacks to tell us all about the smoke , and perhap fire in the description .....
