see this unusual Porta-Color in UK:

It is labeled "Granada Colourette". Is this a modified General Electric, or a British made set?

that is definetly a re-branded G.E. Portacolor. even the knobs & trim are exactly the same ones used on the American model.
the only difference i see is the lack of a U.H.F. tuning knob.

It's the missing VHF knob. TV on VHF was aired in 405 line standard positive, this did not work with this set. Only UHF provided colour television in UK.

do you have an idea how the mains was lowered from 235v a.c. down to 115v a.c. for the re-branded G.E. Portacolor?

on the American (G.E) version, the chassis was designed & built here in the states using (mostly) American parts & Compactron (G.E) tubes, so naturally, the GE version was designed for 110-120v AC.
the U.K. model that you posted may have a different chassis in it.
i have one of these G.E. Portacolors buried under my bench. one day, when i get a chance, i will take a picture of the chassis & post it here.

What makes you think it's not the same as the Kuba? The Kuba version shares GE's cosmetics, and CRT, but has a different chassis with European tubes.
it's possible that you are right. however, it still would be hard to guess as the british chassis may be different then the europion chassis.
G.E. had electronic assembly plants all over the world.
remember the G.E. Wildcat portable stereo phonograph that was popular around 1971-1973, the amplifier PC boards were made in ireland.
