Hi All
i have a 1975 Zenith Chromacolor Ⅱ set with a 25JC49 chassis that i have been using as my "daily driver" for the last 15 years. it still has the original C.R.T. which is still showing good emission & is still tracking perfectly. other then replacing a couple of bad electrolytic capacitors & a 15 ohm resistor, the set has been literally trouble free. however, recently, a problem has cropped up & after basic troubleshooting, i narrowed the problem down to the 9-89-F video output module. to be more specific, i believe it is in the white "chip" on that module.

i was just wondering if there was someone on the VideoKarma forums that may have a few of these modules laying around, or at least point me to a resource for these modules.

i tried Moyers Electronics, but they said that they could not help as they no longer had those type of parts.

Robert -

Check the solder joints on those modules - I've had a couple crack on me that were almost invisible.

A quick Google search turned up only one result that had a valid web page:

http://www.tvparts.com/

Sounds like they're more into the single boards used in later sets, but couldn't hurt.

I may have one - give me a day. If I do, I can't speak much of it's provenance - got lots of modules, tuners and flybacks from my retired-TV repairman-Dad.

I'll check in the AM.

I appreciate your responses.

N9ZQK, i reflowed the solder joints on that board when the problem first showed up. however, it did not eliminate the problem. i also retentioned the contacts on the board to assure that the connections were snug on the chassis.

Findm-Keepm, i really would appreciate that. if you can find one, not only will i be happy, but my wife will finally get off my back about the tv.

I've got a 9-89. PM me if you want it for postage only.

BTW, a 9-89-01 won't work on the 25JC49/49Z chassis, only the 9-89.

Cheers,

Cheers,

mine calls for a 9-89-F. is that the same type of board?

Zenith used only numeric suffixes. The 9-89 had only one variant: the 9-89-01. Per the CRSP manual, your chassis used only the 9-89.

Caveat: PTS and United Tuner used the -R suffix on modules to denote their rebuilt modules (yes they sold new modules too) - so a 9-89-R may exist, but it would be obvious - PTS used Sharpies to mark the module with the module part number and date, and United Tuner used a price sticker with the date - most of the imprints fade with time.

Cheers,
