I have had one of these since 1996 new I dont think to this day it has been used for more than 10 days total watch time. It works as new but when I shut it off about 15 seconds later it comes back on and it may do this 3 or 4 times even when using a remote. At first I thought it was the switch. It also will turn on and shut off quick when first started on very rare occasions. What's the deal,:scratch2: any ideas?

I have seen this a good number of times. Cleaning the screen by spraying glass cleaner directly on it allows the liquid to go between the cabinet and picture tube at the bottom. It corrodes the tact switches and makes the TV go crazy. Cleaning the switches won't help. They have to be replaced. I usually get them at any # of eletronics jobbers.
While you are in the set, don't forget the famous Thomson "tuner wrap" solder repair. I don't read of any vertical problems on your post but this is a chassis that has this problem.

Ok thanks I will look into it, the tuner wrap I will need to learn more about, this tv hasnt been used hardly at all but it was cleaned weekly because it just sat in an non used room. But so far no troubles with anything else but knowing the tuner wrap issue maybe I can head it off before it does it. I notice it has a deep color contrast to it on "normal color setting" if that is good or bad I do not know.
