Just passing by the e-waste zone at work, and spotted a Panasonic AG1980 just a sittin' there. Walked on by, but had to come back a few minutes later and grab it. I'm moving, and found a box of old tapes that I need to blow onto DVDs -- figuring this will be the deck to do it with. :thmbsp:

Guessing it came from some cardiac imaging equipment that got upgraded. Oh well, another lost case saved from the junk pile. Did I do good? :)

Be ready to replace lots of small electrolytics. The last few I worked on had many bad caps which caused distorted video.

Panasonic AG-1830, AG-1960, AG-1970, or AG-1980? Which one is the most reliable to you?

I worked on that whole generation of machines in a shop. AG1960 was the least problematic
Long as you didn't jam the load tray, that gear train was a chore to resync.

Chore? It's more than a chore, it's a test of mind over machine!
