Thanks Joe! I just hope I can bring it home. My significant other has stated "no more tvs for a while", which I understand completely. I have, however, been getting rid of much more than I've been bringing home these last few months. Looks like some more crap goes if this comes....The price is just right on this one so hopefully.......

It's seeming that way Nick.....I don't think anything can be done until Saturday but she didn't answer my call today after she said we'll see what the weather's like. I asked a close friend to help me out that lives closer to the set but we'll see what happens with "Cheryl" before I send him on a goose chase. I'll update whether I get it or not......until then, stay tuned. Same bat time, same bat channel:)

Maybe so, but just maybe the set can be saved from the weirdo. LOL. Now she says Friday but that's no good for me either with work stuff going on. I hope she just lets one of us pick it up on Saturday and just be done with it. If not, the next person in line is welcome to deal with this lady. More to follow..........

It's not looking good. I wish people on CL weren't so screwy. The set isn't worth all the hassle in my opinion. I'll give this lady a call one more time and see what's up.

Jump in the ol car and go I went up to 175 miles one way I took the chance at junk or the nice Zenith roundie I ended up with. Its always a gamble in my opinion my best luck was right in my own back yard I just had to find the place, and lucky all parts were in stock for my maggie and I went 190 miles to get that tv when it was all said and done.

The problem isn't location, it's the kookey people that currently have the thing. :sigh:

In that case go knock on the door and say where is it flash some cash and say take it or leave it.

Sometimes that happens. One time I was in this junk shop, and there was a Philco radiobar, and an old RCA floor model Victrola. Both cabinets looked in great condition, but there was a barrier of junk in front of them, so I couldn't get to them to inspect the insides at all. The guy there only wanted $40 each, and I told him I would pay that but first I needed to get behind them, take a look, and make sure they were complete. But he wanted the money before he moved the junk out of the way, or let me move the junk out of the way. I wasn't going to pay for something I couldn't see first, and he refused to move the stuff, so I just left and past up what was probably a great deal.

What I think is different is when you buy one then they call and want it back and are willing to pay more to get it back, it is a 25MC33 like yours Adam it only needs the tuner and switch put back in it.

It's not that easy, the house is not being lived in at this time it seems. The lady's mother is the one that is supposed to meet one of us there. She can only be there certain days and it's turning into a pain in the ass. Then she doesn't answer the phone half of the time or respond to an email. I'm not driving an hour and a half to maybe get a '66 Zenith. Pre '59 anything else yeah.

I guess it depends on how much you would want it in the first place, I usually set up an appointment and if they cant be there then too bad they lose I guess it's only money and they have it listed as free so i would say offer some cash for a sure deal

zenithfan1
12-12-2009, 01:19 PM
I did offer money and it didn't help, she didn't even say anything about it. I think it's a waste of time. She says "maybe monday" yeah, right. Cheryl is undoubtedly a f-l-a-k-e.

Sounds like it i always like ebay because it forces the issue unless like the circa 60 Rca I think that one is still on Ebay or is still rotting away

I find it amazing how flakes are drawn to CL like a magnet. I've seen it again and again and again. Sure makes me appreciate ebay!

Last week I advertised a rug in the local "shopper" for my wife. I really didn't think it would sell, but we did get some calls. One guy really wanted it but it would have to be delivered. He was a few miles from where I was going to pick up the Airline combo, so I figured this was all part of God's plan. Nice guy, but...different. An artist, and very lonely. He called just to chat a couple times...has led an interesting life. Never know what you'll run into. Today I happened upon a new thrift store; owner was out in the parking lot listening to Hank, Jr. blaring on his boombox. EXTREMELY hopped up on Red Bull. Another very interesting character; was an official US government photographer in DC, showed me photos he took of Clinton. His store is packed so tight you can't get in. I'm beginning to think that I attract this type of person in the same way that CL attracts the flakes...

Mark -

Guess I'm glad I didn't read the forum that morning or I'd probably be dealing with this woman. Oak Forest is right down the road from me.

There do seem to be a lot of weirdos on CL as of late. You probably remember the guy with the sold/not sold B/W Zenith from earlier this year. People either think their stuff is worth $$$ or are strange when you're trying to arrange pickup.

I remember the Zenith your're talking about Jim, I still see it listed sometimes. Ron you're definitely right about the weirdos, I wish you weren't but you are. The whole Cincinnati thing with the crazy lady was a nightmare. I officially give up on this Cheryl and her junk, if anyone else wants to try and deal with it, be my guest.

I have had some very good deals with Craigslist, but several that were a big hassle or just plain did not respond. I think part of the issue is that Craigslist is free, so in many cases you get what you pay for.

I hope swomeone here gets that TV.

Mark was lucky enough to at least talk with the nut jobs, I gave up when I got a friend request on Facebook instead of the pickup address I requested. :sigh: Maybe our species IS getting stupider the more times we copy our DNA, there's no hope left except for the concentration of intelligence found on ARF and VK! :D

I talked to the flake today and I told her to give it to whomever was next in line. If someone is close, try to save it but don't say you weren't warned. This lady is about as absent minded as your average Lake Forest Il resident.

Would love to get hold of a roundie, especially a local one, but just don't have the patience and the time to deal with people like this.

It's a shame; seems like she could even make a buck on it if she wanted to.

I did email her and she got back to me early last week with a phone number. I called her a few times and left a message. She did call me back but I wasn't around to answer the phone at the time. This was late last week. I've called back and left another message and also sent another email just a couple days ago and Im getting blown off again.
She said in her phone message that the TV's have to go and that Mark ( I said I was picking it up for him) claimed he wanted all four TV's, so I'd have to take all four. I know thats a lie right off the bat. If that means I have to take all four to save the zenith, then so be it. She said they are in the way of them doing demo work in the vacant house and that they live in indiana and they need to figure out a good time they can go up there etc. I couldn't get anything to materialize from these jerks. They just left that message and I could never get ahold of them again. The punks probably swung sledge hammers into the CRT's for fun.

It would be so tempting to stoop to their level of jerkiness and drop the superfluous sets back off once they left if one were to actually get it.

Betcha any money they found this post, and the jig has been up a long time ago. If the batty lady can find me on Facebook, she can find a bunch of TV people posting about how they think they're about to get a free Roundie on the web as well. Ten spot says that same set surfaces for cash not long from now on CL/Evilbay...

I tried to tell her it was worthless.... :D

They will find out it's not made of Gold. They have eliminated most of the local people who would be interested in the set already so the worth factor for them is going down.

I am finding wide price ranges on most of these being new to this collecting what is a good rebuilt roundie vs non rebuilt price range to begin with?

I told her I wanted it for parts.....which is true, I would have kept all the parts just where they were. I could tell she thought it was worth something but it really isn't worth much IMO being so new and common. Definitely not worth all the hassle involved dealing with her, that's for sure.
