Actually, what I think it is that I'd like to find some day is a CTC-9. I'm not sure. My OIC gave me his set in about 1972. It was pretty old at that time and he was tired of getting it repaired. Except for needing manual degaussing, it ran for along time after I fixed it. When I left the AF my dad sold it while I was in college.

About all I can remember of it now is that the tuner knob was on the side of the chassis and that the HV cage was on the right as you looked at it from the rear. That I'm sure of because I managed to receive a series of pinhole burns in my hand when I accidentally brushed against the cap of the HOT while repairing it once at my OIC's place.

I don't think I've ever seen a 15" version! I've had the 19" and factory retrofit 21" versions. NICE! I say it goes $3000+.

Don't think we've seen any pop up for sale in the past several years. These would be quite rare.

I'm surprised it went on CL instead of ebay. Almost makes me think someone just found it in an old house and think they can get a few bucks for it. Seems if the owner really knew what he had, it would have gone on ebay. Maybe I'm wrong, but I'd certainly use ebay over CL if I had a high dollar item to sell.

I could not resist. Back in the 50's the American Tobaco company had a comercial that showed tobaco buyers walking down the rows of tobaco to be auctioned and when the buyer for American Tobaco would buy pile of tobaco he would yell out " Sold American"

So here I am again, telling you the Moto is..... "Sold American" , to this American who lives in Milwaukee.

What a very interesting weekend. First the NOS 15GP22 and now a 15 inch Moto with a good 15G. At this rate I will die pennyless with lots of old tv sets. :banana:

My heartfelt thanks to John Marinello who went over to the sellers home and scoped out the set for me. And after I struck a deal over the phone, John gave the seller a cash deposit to seal the deal. Steak dinner comming your way John!

Crt is GOOD as gold. The set was purchased NEW by the seller's father-in-law It was sitting in the garage of the seller for the past 8 years. John says it's in fairly nice condition and should clean up nicely.

Never saw a schematic for the 15 inch Motorola. Anyone know what it used for chroma demodulation, IQ or narrow band?

I have the genuine Moto schematics for all of their roundies (including this 15" set) and a few rectangulars. They all came in a big hardback binder notebook. I'll have to dig around and see if I have them here. They might be in storage with the rest of my sets.

I am gobsmacked by the fact that there are now several of these 15" Moto consoles accounted for, yet only one (definitely), maybe two of the 19CK1 console known to exist despite the latter being in the Motorola catalog for an extended period.

WAs out digging in the garage... can't find them. They're in storage 20 miles down the street, and won't be able to go get them. I'm leaving at 0200 to go catch a ship (oh geez and I still have stuff to do). I'll have to wait till I get back from sea. Sorrry. :(

Kevin, The TS-900 chassis used R-Y/B-Y (narrowband) demodulation. The set is very similar to the 19" TS-902 chassis.

Thanks John. That's what I thought. If Motorola could save a buck they did. Can't blame them for seeking a workable price point, I suppose.
